FWIW. I use the basic Denso plugs purchased at local Toyota dealer. IIRC, the cost was less than $20 for a set of 6 to give spark to the 4.0L.

I will be following the change interval recommended in the Owner's Manual and Maintenance Schedule.

The time for me to change the plugs is about 1 hour, cost $20. This maintenance is only required every 2-3 years or so. Not a big deal in time, cost or inconvenience.

The 4.0L occasionally has trouble with the iridium plugs.

Thanks. I'll stay with the basic Denso and change every couple years. Not such a big problem. Besides, I don't like going against the recommendations of the people who designed these machines. I certainly don't know more about the engine than Toyota. I'm doubtful if any internet gurus know more than those who designed the engine.

I did them at 60k and now I'm around 137k and should probably do them soon

    Copper plugs of course

I can't prove it, but I'm of the opinion that certain plugs are designed to go with certain coil packs. I've seen a Chrysler 300C have all kinds of problems after fancy iridium plugs got installed (it's supposed to have OEM Champion copper plugs). it would stumble and stall, network communication codes were stored, I think electrical interference from the ignition system was backfeeding into the CAN bus and knocking modules off line.. never got the chance to get the correct plugs back in it, the customer got frustrated and traded it in
