while I previously posted in reference to a recommendation to not use dual electrodes, it has come to my attention that a quite large and imposing sticker on the engine specifically states to use dual electrode plugs.

    duh.

    Denso K16R-U gapped at .028 in my 99 2.4

The NGK V-Power BKR5EYA gapped at .032 is another good choice for a stock engine.

The G-Power made my engine sound rough.

The Iridiums are a waste of money.

I have a 2.7 in a 4X4 Tacoma. I just changed mine and put in the NGK iridiums mainly because they last the longest. Didn't notice any difference whatsoever from the Denso's that were in there and the iridiums. Iridium actually doesn't conduct as well as coper or platinum but it outlasts them both. I don't want to have to pull my plugs every 30,000 miles although I probably will pull them after about 50,000 just to check the gap and make sure they don't become one with the head.

Anybody else notice less annoying ticking noise after changing out 3 of one plug and 3 of another plug on each side?

Not all of them. My 03 had 6 Denso's in it from the factory. I swapped mine out for factory Denso replacements at around 60K and again at 100K. They were burnt down to nubs after the first 60K so I did them sononer the second time and they looked pretty good when swapped.

Getting ready to swap them again this weekend as I know have about 140K on the odo.....

I learned a long time ago that unless you have a hopped up tricked out motor to take advantage of the small difference those expensive plugs give you, then just buy the normal regular stock spark plugs and they work just as good and last just as long as the pricey plugs with fancy names and special electrodes will.

anything beyond basic stock plugs is just wasted money but if it makes you feel better about it to use iridium or two or more electrodes then to each his own

Yeah, those engineers also slapped an undersized supercharger on the 5vzfe with no tuning or upgraded fueling, and called it good. So let's not start with that crap. Just because the engineers at Toyota did it one way doesn't necessarily mean that's the best way.

agreed, they do things more for monetary reasons then for true performance, function, or reliability

Well so far i have about 1000 miles on the NGK iridium ix and they are not causing me any problems. i will report how they do and since no one had anything in stock with dual pole, i figured for 6.50 a peice it wasnt too bad.

The service manual specifies 30k mile interval for non-platinum plugs.

good old $2 a piece copper plug will run as good as any other, no need to pay $8 a piece for fancy plugs. On alot of newer motors that come factory with iridiums when searching for performance gains alot of times one of the first things recommended is to ditch the iridiums for basic copper plugs.
