Hey all, looking for some help deciding on UCAs. I've decided to go with a ball joint configuration and have narrowed it down to SPC and Camburg. I plan on running Fox 2.5 w/ resi on the front looking for 2-2.5" of lift to run 285/70/17 Toyo Open Country AT II or RTs on SCS Ray 10s.

I read several reviews with people having problems with both which is inevitable but wanted to try and make an educated decision off the bat. Does anyone have a similar setup that could provide some direction or thoughts on the two? Thanks in advance.

Personally, I'm a fan of uniballs of Camburg/Total Choas if you don't mind a little extra noise and maintenance. SPC UCA are fine if it's just a daily driver, but I've personally seen their BJ pop out from too much droop while trailing. That was enough for me to make up my mind about going/recommending uniballs whenever possible.

I've been running SPC/LR for almost a year. I wheel at least once a month, if not 2-3 times and have no complaints or issues. I chose them because of $ and alignment adjustment options.

seems like both of those would work for your stated setup. i only have experience with the Camburg uniballs. they are noisy but super flexy. maybe get some folks together for a UCA group buy so you can get uniballs for about the same price as ball joints?

one of the mantra's around here is buy once, cry once. the tendency is to think you know how you want to setup your rig, dive in, but then wish you got the next level up. because of this i always look to buy one level up then grow into it. works for me. i mean, if you're going to be wheeling hard enough to justify 2.5 RR front shocks, it seems appropriate to have the ball joints.

if you are dead set on ball joints you will likely find support for LR and Camburg on TW. when i first got addicted to this site circa 2010 it seemed that everyone was running either LR or Total Chaos.

And the great thing about the LR UCAs is that you can still get an alignment done a few years down the road when you find out your alignment cams in the factory LCA are all seized and won’t budge. I ran my LR UCA for 7 years before the truck was written off. Hwy speed head on crash where mine and the other dudes front right wheels collided. Snapped every single suspension component including the LR UCA but the balljoint and properly torqued nut didnt budge. The factory LCA got ripped in half....
