Might even want to consider the two piece bushings like TC uses.

    If you don't like Moog?
    Here's the OEM.
    https://amzn.to/47zgGVz

SPC claims that they were having Quality issue with their X-axis during Covid that has been corrected.
I'm just wondering if I should build the second set in case these new x-axis fails again.

I'm also considering trying Sintered Bronze (self Lubricating) Bushings. I have some laying around from different hydraulic projects I've been working on.
But I'm thinking that the rubber bushing might be a better option due to it's ability to cushion and absorb impact.
Most if not all vehicle manufacturer use the rubber bushing in their suspensions.

I'm starting to think that all these other joints. i.e. heim, x-axis, Poly, etc... are too ridgid and unforgiving. The slightest bit of wear and you're going to have issues.
Due to the dynamic nature of the suspension, I'm starting to think that rubber bushings are the best option. (This does not apply to high articulation joints)

    Not sure yet?
I've only recently come across this problem so it will take more research to come up with a good plausible hypothesis. These ideas are just off the top of my head.

OEM-sized UCA bushings don't fit SPC UCAs.

    Are the SPC's larger?

The spec ride bushings are discontinued. Only the x axis bushings are now available

Bummer, I was just about to rebuild a set with them and noticed that no one has them.

SPC has a habit of selling their old stuff to Mevotech and Dorman, I wonder if those same parts can be tracked down some how that way.

MEVOTECH CMS861198 Supreme is the same old style SPC ARM (5th gen 4runner), I wonder if bushings can be found for that arm then. They are the exact same.

    Good afternoon Jesse,

Unfortunately, Mevotech has since discontinued CMS861198 and its mirrored part.

We recommend reaching out to Specialty Products Company https://www.spcalignment.com/ with their part# 25480 for replacement control arm bushings.

This would equal the x-axis - yuck

My SPC UCA x axis bushings have gone out almost immediately after installing them. I think I noticed he clunking noise with 1500 miles of them getting installed. I did get them during Covid so there’s a good chance they were part of the QC issues they were having. I want to just order different upper control arms and be done with SPC all together, but the idea of forking over another couple hundred bucks isn’t so appetizing. Is it worth replacing the x axis bushings or should I just eat the proverbial crap sandwich and order some new arms?

if you blew out your x-Axis that quickly, you could have other underlying issues so it's hard to say.

my poly bushings are still holding up since June without much issues that i can tell. might need to tighten some stuff up a bit more but they do the job.

Honestly, IMO just cut your losses and go with another brand of UCAs. Mostly because SPC seemed to have axed the poly-bushings from their first generation uppers to force people into the x-axis whatever balljoint rubber thing they have going now. so the only way to get em is from old stock that some website still might have on hand.

You can find other brand uppers that already have the caster adjustment (pushing the tire forward) and that still use a standard ball joint and bushings which would be better than the unlimited customization you can do with the SPCs. as nice as they are, price is where it fucks you in the long run. earlier or later becomes your pick

Yeah I wanted to avoid spending another 600 dollars or more but I have a feeling that even if I replace the bushings I’m only delaying the inevitable. I also thought there was an underlying issue that made the bushings go out prematurely but had two reputable Toyota 4x4 shops check it out and both couldn’t find any issue. But both shops explained that issues with SPC UCA are alarmingly common. Guess I’ll be pricing out some new ones. I’ve been looking at the total chaos/camburg ones and the JBA ones so we will see.

found some poly bushings online and ordered em. Just got word that SPC is zeroing shops orders across the US and Canada. SPC is dead.
If i find or hear of an alternative that could fit. i'll drop it into here

Do you have a link as to where you got them from? I ordered the X-axis ones but would rather have poly.
