Thinking about doing the uca's this saturday. Does anyone see any issue with me installing these (with the ball joint fully out, and washer set with the spc facing outwards) and not getting an alighment for a while until i get the new coils and struts installs.
I dont really care about my tires at this point because im due for new ones. But at this setting will it still drive and handle ok without the alighment!?

    Thanks.

It depends on your current suspension setup but that's what I did about 7k miles ago...still haven't bought tires or gotten an alignment. Set the ball joint in the middle setting (D).

If you're planning to install new shocks/springs, why not wait and install the control arms at the same time?

I just figured the arms would be a managable task for the day. And since i dont have the coils yet.
I just have 5100's on stock coils maxed out at 2.5. Would d be a good setting for now u think?

That should be fine, but again, you're just making more work for yourself since swapping shocks/springs with the UCA off is very easy.

I havnt read much as of yet reguarding coil over installation, but was under the impression the lower control arm needed to be free to get it in. But your absolutely right, if im in there it makes sense to do it at the same time.
I guess i just figure doing the arms now, its one part down, one to go. Its getting cold here, and not really a project i wanna do in the snow and cold temps as i dont have a garage.

I didn't touch the LCA when installing my suspension.

When you pull things apart to get at your UCA you are halfway through getting the coils out. It is definitely most efficient to do both at the same time, but there is no reason not to do the UCAs first unless you are paying for labour.

To clarify, you have to remove the strut from the LCA (one bolt), you do not have to disconnect the LCA from anything else.

Ooo ok. Well shit, maybe i should get on ordering those 887's so i can get this done before its -30.

Is it the same process installing coils if the uca wasnt being swapped?
I guess what i am asking is there multiple ways to go about installing a coil over on these trucks, or is it one reccomended procedure ?

Correct but that's so obvious it shouldn't need clarification and if someone installing shocks can't figure it out without clarification.............

Some loosen the LCA to get better access but you have to mark the cam bolts to get it all lined back up and make sure the bolts are re-torqued with the vehicle at ride height, otherwise you'll destroy the bushings.
