I installed a set of SPC upper control arms on my truck awhile back. I took it in for a wheel alignment and the shop said they couldn’t align it because the ball joints were shot. I have to order the new ones, but was wondering how I can tell if the bushings on mine are the newer upgraded ones. I didn’t want to replace them unless necessary to do so. They look to be rubber, not poly. I believe SPC upgraded bushings as well, so how am I able to verify if mine are the old or new version? Thanks.

Take a picture and post it here that will be the easiest way. Or Google the two different types and compare them to your truck.

there was a price difference and part number difference between the old rubber bushing and the x-axis bushing. If you have the receipt check the part number.

The arms are at the kids place, but looking at the pictures of bushing kits, the xaxis replacements look to have a notched shoulder while the others don’t. The cost of the xaxis are about 4 times more, are they that much of an improvement?

SPC ball joints are inspected differently than a regular ball joint. It's not uncommon for a shock to say that they're shot, as they do that on all sorts of vehicles to turn a $100 alignment into a $500 replacing ball joints job. Not to say they're not bad, but they can be checked this way.
