Will 5x7's fit my 04 Tacoma Prerunner Xtra Cab Or do they have to be 6x8?

    Thanks

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
They will fit but I rather you go with round speaker > oval.

The front doors will accept up to 6x9 easily however you need to take into account the fact you need a special mounting plate due to the odd shape of the door cutout. I'd contact Mr. Marv (located on this forum) and tell him the speakers you are interested in and he could make a custom set of mounts for you. Of course if you're a weekend handyman then you could make your own as well from a sheet of MDF. If that's the path you want to go down and need some help, speak up. If you are buying these speakers and they state they have adaptrs, then you should be covered.

As for round or oval, that's up to you to be honest. The larger the area, normally you will be able to support a lower bass end better if you are not going to add a sub.

If you are just replacing your speakers and retaining the factory HU, look for speakers rated to perform well at low power. Something rated for 100 Watts Continuious RMS will not normally perform well without an amplifier. Just things to think about.

Thanks for that info. I have a sub and aftermarket headunit right now, so I won't need them for bass, I'll look into some speaker adapters.

    Thanks again :D

5X7 and 6X8 formats have the same mounting pattern.

Yup and I have had them both in my front doors. I had to get Mr Marv's baffles to fit them in but they work great now.
