Just the front, the rears in the AC are up in the roof or something and aren't worth replacing from what I read.

Skip the Focals. Hit up Mr Marv on here for speaker adapters. Then buy the speaker of your choice.

I checked him out. Seems like a good mount. Right now my main concern is getting more low end out of the system. Im throwing around the idea of a small sub and a decent set of speakers but am too damn indecisive.

Make sure you at least put some sound deadening material around the speakers in the door. Mr. Marv talked me into doing this after I installed my speakers. Made a huge difference on low end. I am running a Pioneer head unit with Hybrid Audio Technology speakers (from Mr Marv as well). Has good amount of low end if I crank up the bass, not something I do because it’s not my thing.

I had the same issue when I bought my 15. I upgraded all of my speakers and I can guarantee that you won’t be happy doing that alone. I would start with an amp and go from there. Speakers are an easy upgrade but the amp is going to make the biggest difference. With just upgrading the speakers, the sound is better obviously but it doesn’t help the volume issue. I still have to crank it to max when going down the highway. If I were you I’d go with a 5 channel amp and upgrade the speakers. That way down the road you can add a sub without upgrading the amp. Have fun!

What adapter did you get for the front?

As you can tell from the posts, lots of personal experience and opinions. My thought is that you need to define how far you want to go with this upgrade? Just speakers, just HU, HU+speakers, amps, subs, etc. And, most importantly your price point(s). Note that if you decide to upgrade in phases, then $$$ and timelines help. Also, need to know if you want to keep the stock HU, for capabilities reasons or security reasons or other, or just a clean rip and replace of anything stock.

Personally I would upgrade the HU first, unless you have reasons to hold onto it, as that will clean up the signals and most will get you some additional power. Then I would upgrade the main speakers, and if you will be using these for some time with just the HU power, look for more efficient speakers to convert what power you are feeding them to sound. After that you can decide if you want to amp the mains, add a sub, add a sub amp, add a self-contained sub/amp, etc., etc., etc.

But, $$$, timelines, and how much audiophile'ing makes you happy, should drive your decisions. Last thing you want to do is buy lower line items, then have to rip and replace those since they can't handle a subsequent upgrade phase.

That’s exactly how I did mine, started with the headunit, then the speakers and then added the sub/amp combo. :)

I posted this in the audio part too. But just installed my system and have a JBl factory system of ya need? It’s not bad sounding, but I’m not how retro fitting it would be. But the door speakers and tweet would be nice.

    I went with a

    Kenwood DMX905S
Focal ps165 fX in the front
Focal 165 ac in the rear
    JL audio 300/4
    JL audio 500/1
JL audio tacoma stealth box with two 10s
    JL bass knob
    Hush mat
    Cascade audio engineering VB2

And thinking about adding a JL audio TWk88

    Gotta have good times

Any pics of the installed headunit? How well did everything fit in there? I'm having a hell of a time getting my Kenwood Dnx996xr to fit.

I don’t, but I’ll take some tomorrow. It had the kenwood trim ring on and that was to thick. Going to make a thin one and try again. The deck fits fine, just the dash kit isn’t the best

They were from a local audio shop, but i'm sure Crutchfield would tell you exactly what you'd need if you put some 6.5" speakers in your cart

Second this, just use Crutchfield and they will tell you exactly what you need when you checkout if your a DIY person. Easiest way to go.
