Speaker upgrade for an 2006 Tacoma Access Cab with JBL Sound

    If a door has a 2 ohm mid and a 2 ohm tweeter the load is still at 2 ohms because of the crossover splitting the frequencies.

    The wiring for the mid doesn't actually go through the tweeter but it does go through the tweeters plug. After the tweeters plug they are wired together. Toyota kept the wires arrangement the same for a few years and later switched the orientation of the wires within the plug. Something along the lines of positive negative positive negative was switched to positive positive negative negative, I don't recall exactly the arrangement or the year they changed.

    JBL is the speaker manufacturer.

    Your head unit should have "JBL" printed on it somewhere. Your front door panels should also have a "JBL" logo where the speaker grill is.

    How did these turn out? How odd you end up wiring the tweeter in with the 4 wires going into the tweeter with the OEM harness and only 2 wires on the tweeter?
