I did upgrade to Panasonic avh-1500nex. Along with a dash kit, steer wheel control module, bu camera. It claims 50w x 4, claims being the key word.

Your head unit is a Pioneer and not a Panasonic. Pioneer is the only company that uses MOSFET outputs and yes it actually is 50 watts X 4. Pioneer is also the only head unit that can be bridged. Best head unit available IMO. All other head units use an IC chip for their outputs.

    Nice upgrade!

How do you like the speakers?

    Almost went with the kickers.
Going to try them next whenever I wreck these alpines.

Someday I'm going to install 2 6's where the 6x9's go (in an enclosure), a 4" mid where the tweeters currently are, and tweeters on the sail panels. That will be awesome... someday.

Anyone ever replaced the speakers in the rear up in the headliner? How the heck do you get those out without destroying your headliner? Is it even worth the effort.

Mine came with rear door speakers but if it was me Id disconnect those and leave them where they are and add two 6 1/2s in the rear doors without even pulling the headliner.

Yea I have a 2012 access cab and so mine came with useless tiny speakers in the headliners, I think my $5 alarm clock radio from 1989 came with better speakers.

@jburner before you mount the tweeters, get a couple paint stirrers and attach the tweeters to them. Move them around till you find the spot where they sound best to you.

    Yep yep yep
I disconnected the tweeters years ago.
A couple 4's there and 2 10's in new rear door panels w/the 6 1/2's but keep the 6x9s up front, components, and two new amps is my dream rig.

    Someday

This combination is really simple, and sounds fantastic, crystal clear, plenty loud, no distortion even turned up. I just dropped it off tonight to upgrade the rear speakers. Adding the backup camera is really nice, no more bonking the wall.

In comparison, in my old supra, I spent around 3500 for alpine 2 amps, eq, head unit, bazooka tube, separates up front, 4 6x9s rear. It was louder, sounded a little better, and the bazooka was intense or overkill.

Some reason, I keep wanting to call it panasonic, it is a pioneer avh-1500nex.

Back in the good ole days, my little knowledge made me stupid and dangerous. I took my cheap boom box apart, took the crappy speakers out, put in some better car stereo speakers. Then took my big back tv apart, connected wires to its speaker, to a light switch you would normally mount to the wall, to wires sticking out, to the boom box speakers. Seemed ok except everyone thought it was hilarious I had a wall light switch on the side of my tv. It sounded, um, yeah better. The switch turned the tv speaker off so I could listen only through the boom box. Then if I moved the boom box outside or somewhere and forgot to bring it back in, I could flip the switch to hear the tv again.

Ive had some frankenstein rigs haha
For the longest time I had a 12v inverter powering an alpine head unit into 2 6x9s in boxes and a couple house speakers in the garage is one I can think of offhand.

Id still be running that I guess if a roof leak in a storm hadnt made a direct hit on both.

I put the kickers in my double cab last night. Much improved sound and clarity. I do have a Sony head unit though. I picked my daughter up from her job and she complained she could hear my music inside the building.
