Just upgraded with subara tweeters and just wow, thinking might go for the doors speakers as well.

It's well worth doing, I also put some sound deadening stuff in the doors, Crutchfield gives little instruction sheets.

I performed the Subaru speaker change out today. I notice the difference most when driving. Normally 40 is the driving around volume. 30 is the new 40. Bummed I missed out on the eBay coupons, but the install tool less than 30 minutes. As others warn, be careful not to drop tools or screws down into the dash. Also, use plastic panel removing tools so as not to scratch or mar the dash or A pillar.

Does the sound deadening make the truck noticeably quieter? Or just the sound better? Did you do all 4 or just the front doors? I had to cancel my order on my truck with JBL because I did an extended drive in a sunroof truck and decided it would drive me crazy to have my head hitting the ceiling over every single bump.

I did not go crazy on the sound deadener, just 1 sheet per door. It did get rid of the tin sound and a little road noise, planning on pulling out the rear seat and doing the back of the cab when it warms up.

I'll also add that @Mr Marv is great to work with! He went out of his way to answer questions and help me find the perfect solution for my listening.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Darn those Focal's... going to have to do it one of these days. Very happy with the set of components I put into my S2000 years ago.

I paid for the JBL upgrade in my TRDOR but not impressed at all...
Don't want to change the head unit but would like better speakers all around. Anyone know what would work ...?

According to the guy I spoke to at an audio shop, if you're into upgrading the sound, it's way easier with non-jbl. Someone will hopefully be able give you a better answer, but it sounds like the JBL isn't easy to change.

Call Crutchfield and ask for Lee. He will tell you all available options. Have worked with him for 20 years on many vehicles.

Was hoping for a speaker upgrade not the the whole unit.
    Sounds like Toyota screwed me.
I mean you pay for the upgrade and what you get is substandard crap with the JBL name on it.
