speakers for birthday

my birthday is next thursday (6/23) and my step dad asked me what i wanted for my birthday and i said i want some speakers for my truck. I didnt really expect him to go along with it but he said ok and we are supposed to be going looking around town tomorrow to see what we can find! Im excited but im not going to get my hopes up too high. What kind of speakers do you guys have? any suggestions on what i should look for? jlaudio mtx kicker pioneer etc?.. 8" 10" 12"? also.. my truck is an 02 xtra cab so would space be any kind of an issue?

Do you have a headunit?

 

^ just oem i cant complain about it though all i do is listen to cds and local fm stations

 

I have stock speakers and an aftermarket headunit and it makes my stock set-up sound great! You could always look into that, but I'm sure you're looking for more bass that quality. Try Rockford Fosqate and look through Crutchfield.com for some set-ups you may like.

didnt mention earlier.. but i wanna keep the cost down too if possible. dont need 800-1000 dollar stuff for my first system

 

we went to town today and ended up getting a Kenwood kdc x895 and 2 Kicker 6 1/2 door speakers. I am going back monday to get them installed.

 

Hybrid audio clarus, or imagine series for cheaper.

 

got it all installed and it sounds great! ended up with 5x7s instead of 6 1/2s 6 1/2s werent right size. very please with the results! working on pics right now but my phone doesnt seem to wanna send.
