Since my truck has the worst stock stereo I've ever had in a vehicle, I'm going to replace it. I'm wondering if the speakers are awful too - any opinions?

There excellent for placing them on an old bucket and shooting them with your pistol.

factory speakers are horrible, I put cheap JBL Club's in mine a while back. even with the stock head unit it's night & day difference.

Factory head unit isnt bad (so long as you can bluetooth audio to it), my 2013 non nav entune paird with some pioneer 2 or 3 way speakers in each door sounds great and didnt break the bank to upgrade.

Hellen Keller doesn’t even think the factory head unit sounds good.

I got an ad from Crutchfield about some speaker deals. I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on some and this might just be the time.

I put in an atoto head unit. Decent change in sound. The following week for drop in alpines. Another good upgrade. The stock stereos are paper poop.

You'll laugh at the stock speakers and how light they are, almost zero magnet inside. Upgrade them as well.

You can do a lot with the stock head unit. I did a ‘system’ in my 2014 Tacoma, everything was changed except the head unit (speakers, sub, amps, etc). It bumps and sounds amazing. All with the OEM head unit. It was probably more work than just buying an aftermarket head unit, I.e. splicing wiring and what not… but I wanted to keep the OEM look so that’s why I went that route.

When I replaced the OEM headunit, that made the biggest difference on my OEM speakers.

When you remove the stock speakers, you'll get the joke.

Wow, are you ever right... I've never seen such janky speakers in my life.

When I took out the speakers in my older 3 series to replace, the cones were thin/ass paper and the whole assembly weighed nothin'

I'm gonna replace the truck speakers first and go from there - cause they sound like sh*t

I'd say throw them as far as you can but they won't fly for shit.

In general I recommend starting with a new head unit. Knowing how shitty our speakers are though, nope
