Sound deadening will do amazing wonders for the sound of your system.

One of the best mods I've done.

I went with Polk Audios 651s all the way around, powered by a simple Sound Ordinance (crutchfield brand) amp. And added an 8" powered sub under the passenger seat.

All hooked up to a JVC digital media head unit

While I won't win competitions the sound is vastly superior to stock and was done on a very small budget.

The 8" sub won't shake a turd out of you but it compliments the low end nicely. Where the sound really shines is in the mids. The sound deadening really tightens up that frequency range.

Did it mess with the door panel? Any cutting of said panel?

no cutting required. fits a little snug and need pressure to "pop" the panel on but if you wanted to trim just a little on the inside you can make it fit. I haven't had any issues and it isn't coming off so I leave it alone.

Also the touch-screen double din units are nice so you can use some apps and BT for calls. I have my mic routed up thru the A-pillar trim and across the headliner to the map light. that's usually the default location of fatory mics.
