    Hey Guys,

I want to replace the bulbs on my projector headlights, any idea the model? They're on a 2008 tacoma.

They have never been the brightest to begin with, any ideas on cost effective options to brighten them up? LED strips? Any suggestions are appreciated, I don't know much about lighting. Thanks for any help! (Also need to clean these, i know haha)

Spec-D/Spyder lights have very poor output, OEM lights would be a substantial upgrade. I’d definitely recommend going back to stock and getting upgraded bulbs as mentioned above.

The way lighting upgrades work is to use smaller more precise light sources that increase focus and therefore increase the output intensity. For this to work you need high-precision optics to make use of that smaller more precise light source. Spec-D/Spyder do not have high precision optics, they have cheap garbage Chinese ones, designed to be as cheap as possible. Since you don’t have precision optics, using an upgraded high precision light source isn’t going to help much as the lamp doesn’t have the engineering tolerances to do anything with it. What you need is a highly engineered precision headlight assembly, like OEM.

As others have (very correctly) stated, your bulbs are not your problem. Your headlights are and no bulb is going to fix that. Your most cost-effective option is probably to restore the lenses in your current headlights. There are plenty of kits available to do that. Those oxidized lenses are killing the already pathetic output.

Thanks for the help guys! Anyone have a suggestion as to which OEM headlights to purchase? And a reputable website? Thanks again.

i have a 2007, had the OEM and replaced them with DEPO branded "oem like" headlights and the output/pattern is better IMO
can be had for about $70 each on Amazon/ebay

retrofit would be the best, i used the new depo set for my retrofit
