Is this in the flagstaff area. Looks like it might be out towards the cinders.

I-40 eastbound, just after exiting I-17. Was heading towards Walnut Canyon and eventually Wupatki National Monument. I am not familiar enough with northern Arizona to know "cinders".

I do need to get up to Humphrey's Peak trail. But even hiking 10 miles at pace in South Mountain Park (1100 ft) does not mean I am ready to drag my old butt over the tress in the forest for 10 miles (starting at 9000 ft, peak is 12000 ft).

I hate those two tone ford paint schemes.

When the truck passed me ... damn ... I never noticed that he was already out of his lane! I do not think he ever centered back into his lane before he finally weaved too far left.

As if the extended wheels or spacers had no correlation with the wheel bearing failing without warning like that! His insurance company will try to deny coverage, they won't want to be associated with this mess. Looking cool is a great defense, I hope he has a good lawyer.

I personally witnessed a "Dukes of Hazard" roll like maybe 25 years ago travelling north on I-75/85 in Atlanta from the airport.
Guy passes me on the left, not noticing a wheel in the road up ahead. I was doing perhaps 70, and he must have hit it going 85 or so. Before I realized what happened, I was well down the highway...

Impress on your kids to always look as far down the road as possible to establish and maintain proper situation awareness. Also, it helps avoid micro-correcting in steering angle inputs. :pccoffee:

Another time, I'm about to take an exit off I-285 on the "top-end" (probably the most dangerous HW in America), and on my left goes a tire past me, (I'm doing 65), crosses in front of my lane and cuts a path along the off-ramp's sloping down diagonal, through the bushes and exiting the highway... When I got around the exit, luckily, the wheel hadn't impacted a vehicle, nor did a vehicle hit it. I'm sure it would have killed someone if that happened.

Does a wheel bearing need to fail? How about the lug-nuts just sheering?

I once looked in the rear view (I was on the fast lane) and at that moment and about 100 yards behind I saw an empty landscaping type utility trailer come loose off a truck and the trailer somehow got over the center cement k rails and onto traffic going to other way.

Thankfully no one was there. And yeah, it got me to thinking how close that was. Since then, I don’t do the fast lane as much unless I have to!

Speed never killed anyone. It's always the sudden stop when you hit something.
