When I re-geared from 410 to 456 I had the following deviations in MPH and Odometer readings.

    Speedometer Actual

    55mph 50mph
    65mph 59mph
    70mph 64mph
    75mph 69mph
    80mph 73mph
    85mph 78mph

    Odometer Actual

    26.3 miles 25 miles
    52.6 miles 50 miles
    105.2 miles 100 miles

I have been told that by re-flashing the ecu these values could be calibrated. Called my tech at toyota and he states that toyota only has the ability to re-flash to factory settings. If anyone has any suggestions how to calibrate it would be appreciated.

That would make sense. I only have 265's. Whenever you change gears it throws the calibration off due to rpm's not being the same as factory. This is why you have to find someone that has the equiptment to re-flash the ecu

Why is your speedo higher than actual but the odometer is lower than actual?

Our spedo's and odo work of electronic mapping in the ecu. If you change tire size or gearing it throws it off. The spedo thinks vehicle is travelling much faster than it actually is which also registers more miles than you are actually travelling.

Right but yours is registering slower, but giving higher miles. They should both be higher or lower. Example your speedo says 55mph but your actually going 50mph (your stats). If you drive for one hour your odometer should read 55 miles but you actually went 50 miles

With bigger tires it should read slower than you are actually going

It is the Re-Gear that is throwing things off. When I changed tire size from 245 (stock) to 265 it actually make my spedo correct ( spedo was off with the 245's). As soon as I re-geared it created the discrepency

Yes, a regear will make the speedo read higher, but the guy I quoted did not mention re-gearing his so his speedo should read low

The wheel speed sensors are for the ABS, the speedo sensor is in the transmission

Sorry it's off topic but where are the 410's? Selling them?

Although others may disagree, I'm pretty sure the speedo and odo come from the tranny (at least in the manuals). I think the speed sensors on the wheels are used primarily for the ABS. I'm a 5-lug with 31 inch tires and I replaced the speedo gear in the 5spd when I regeared to 4.10's. My speedo reads correct now. Unfortunately there isn't a gear for 4.56 gears that I know of and I don't think this works for the automatics.

I have the 410's for the rear only. I got a complete front diff from ecg's so I had to return my 410 front diff to them.

If you are rinning 4.56 and 265's you would be farther off than me, which is why I stated it is weird that you are reading closer/same as I am.

dont know bro. Im running 265 75 16's I hooked up my gps which give a constant mph readout (which I assume is accurate) and comparing it to my spedo readout. Im turning just under 3100 rpms at a true 80mph
