Speed Warning Not Working

On my 2022 Tacoma my speed warning does not seem to work.Do you have to have the compass screen for this work?Can I set the speed warning up with the digital speedometer for a special screen setting?

 

What state are you in that actually enforces speed limits?
But also as I understand the map you are using in the head unit has to have a speed limit shown on the screen for it to enable. So maybe you live in a part of the country that hasn't mapped its speed limits.

 

The speed warning doesn’t show up on the speedo screen. And all it does is put a red highlight around the speed limit on the screen. Not really worth it

Huh. I thought the red rectangle around the sign was just a constant part of that image.

 

If you need the truck to tell you when you are speeding via audible and visual alerts, then you probably shouldn't be driving.

Also, the headunit changed in 2020, so the steps may be slightly different.

 

I had a Ram 1500 a few years back where you could set the on-board nav to give you a verbal warning once you went a certain amount over the speed limit, which you selected. I set it for 15 mph over. It worked alright, but the novelty wore off real quick. I turned it off within a week. Every time I went to pass and had to exceed the range for a few seconds, it was like getting yelled at by my wife.

If my wife was turned on, I wouldn't be trying to find a way to turn her off

 

A very good good point - I Should have pointed out that I only looked to turn off the yelling/alarm function… maybe a setting to adjust the volume.

 

Yes I have navigation but still not seeing this section.

 

It's in the owners manual... Pages 105 through 106 (for 2020).

If it's not on that page, it should be somewhere near.

 

I get the orange out line around speed sign but but no other alarm?Why is there a section in the display to adjust this speed warning if it does not work?Is there anyone with a 2022 that actually has this to work?

 

You've been concerned about this for almost two weeks now. Call your dealer service dept, make an appointment, tell them your speed warning isn't working and find out once and for all if it's a malfunction or a Dunning-Kruger Effect issue. Apparently most of us see the outline around the speed limit indicator on the nav and that's enough for us, so I doubt you will find your answer here. If it bugs you, get it looked at.

 

There is no audible alarm.
