When purchased, my 2009 Tacoma's speedometer read about 3 mph high (63 was an actual 60). Odometer was barely off, less than 1%. This was with 245/75-16 tires. Not like the old days when transmissions had a change-able gear in the cable that fed both the speedometer and odometer and error was the same. Urban legend says most manufacturers today deliberately display speedometer a little high to reduce customer lawsuits, plus there is an allowable govt error % (maybe 3 or 4 %), and in most cases the odometer error is minimal.

Yep. At 100k your ODO will only show about 97k if its 3% off.
