Ive had my 08 4cyl 4x4 for almost two months. Is it normal for the speedometer to be off. The tires are 245/75r16 which is stock just like the truck and the speedometer runs about 5-7mph fast. My 89 with 33's was 5 mph off but that was lifted. Any thoughts?

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
5-7 across the board, or just at freeway speeds?

    Verified by what? GPS?

You sure that's an OE tire size?

    Normal.
They're calibrated for a larger tire than your tire size.

The 265/70 OEM tires are close. 265/75 tire size is pretty much dead on.

40mph and higher. I compared to gps because the truck seemed to be traveling slower than speedometer reading. Are my tires not OEM?

There are 3 sizes of OEM tires. All but the largest are not correct with the speedo like you're seeing.

Never calibrated a speedometer, or had a speedometer calibrated. Is it something most shops can do?

I think it's a Toyota thing. In addition to my Tacoma, we're on our 2nd Camry hybrid and they've both been off by about 4 mph at highway speed.

I've noticed that once I switched to 265/75-16 the speedo seems pretty close. The odometer is not correct though. 1 actual mile is about 7/10 of a mile on the odometer.

My stock '15 off-road is pretty close to dead on when I pass those radar stations on the side of the road. My 06 sport with stock size tires was off- it would show me doing 40 mph when my speedo said 44-45mph.

The speedo in my '03 was off when I had 265-75-16's. I installed this Dakota Digital item which corrected it. When I went to a larger tire, I simply made the setting adjustments with it. I did the same when I re-geared.
Check out their site to see if this will work for your truck.
