Hello all. Wondering if there is a mod or DIY we can do to correct our speedometer and odometer to accurately report speed and mileage. I did a search but couldn't come up with anything conclusive. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

i THINK they make calibrators for the Speedo for the Tacomas.. not 100% sure. I had one for my Jeep years ago.

the odometer.. just use the tire size calculator to figure out the percentage difference in size.

for example.. for me.. im 6.4% percent larger than stock.. so say my trip reads 300 when the low fuel light comes on.. 300 x 1.064 = 319 actual miles.

    hope this helps

I really do not think there is a fix. Contact the dealer as they should know. The easiest way is a GPS.

It depends. Some models pick up the speed signal from the transfer case (manual trans only I believe) and it is easy to correct by changing the plastic gear in the T-case. Others use the wheel speed sensors and require use of a "dakota digital SGI-5". I have a manual trans 05 and my speedo is correct with 37" tires and 4.88 gears, without doing anything (other than regearing).

Awesome. Thanks everyone! Very much appreciated. Just put 33" tires on yesterday and want to take care of this next. Glad it is going to be so easy.
