A faulty speed sensor would give a check engine light correct? I scanned the truck the other day at the parts store just to see if I had any codes and there were none. Maybe time to invest in a copy of the Toyota Dealer software, there has to be a hack copy online somewhere.

EDIT- I just ordered up one of those ELM wifi adapters, Ill check the speed sensor output on Sunday when I get it.

When my speed sensor went out, my check engine light came on. I scanned it but I’ve forgotten what code it showed. My nylon speedo gear had flat spots on it & a bit chewed up so I had to get that from the dealer. Replacing both fixed mine.

Same problem for me, after a lot trying and “fixing it” I just bough a used one from a 2007.

Well after a week of driving with a obd2 scan gauge hooked up, I found that the speedo has read 5mph high and low at times. Finally today the speedo stuck at 10mph at a stop and the OBD2 readout was 0mph. I’m gonna call it a faulty cluster. Now to find one....ugh

My cluster functions normally, but I do find that compared to my OBDII (Torque) that the speedometer can be off a bit at certain speeds.
