    It's only for the navigation, supposedly. The Hypertech unit works great. Mine is spot on.

    Not sure if it makes a difference or not but when I did mine, I reset right before hopping on a straight interstate. Mine is spot on with what my gps unit reads so either it worked for me or there was some other magic that fixed it.

    Factory tires. Speedo was off 3-5 mph when I first got the truck.

    Of course not. Per the Navigation Manual, it has to do with your location shown on the navigation map, not anything to do with the speedometer.
    "If this procedure is not performed when the tires are replaced, the current position mark may be incorrectly displayed."

    @raven543 the pic below shows how far off your speedo is at what speeds
