Wish we had google fiber in the dc area. But fios has been pretty reliable for me and prices are getting cheaper.

It bogs down to 3-4 mbps in the late afternoons / evenings. Sadly, cable internet stops at the house next door and theyre not installing a new node just for us they said if we wanted it installed, itd be 30k. 8FCAE615-C9A1-496E-B3FF-D9E7F51B6695.jpg

I believe I read that they're done building out new cities, maybe the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Either way, we didn't have a fios or option outside of Time Warner... So this was very welcomed.

FiOS keeps nagging us to sign up. Wife won't switch.. She is use to the channel lineup with Xfinity/Comcast.

I have heard so many bad things about comcast from coworkers. I cant get it where i live, but several coworkers switched from fios tto comcast for savings. Ended up going back to fios cause the internet speeds were so terrible at peak times.

Personally we haven't had any issues with Comcast (except cost). My wife has had it before I moved in (when we got married) so that's about 8-9 years total. My parents (where I lived before marrying my wife/moving in with her) have had Comcast for years (I'd say 20 years or so) and no issues there either. I know quite a bit of people/friends/co-workers have experienced outages and such but we have been lucky.

We have a Comcast store (I guess that's what it's called) about 10 minutes away so we can swap boxes and return equipment which is nice.

I do know some people that switch back and forth (from FiOS to Comcast and the other way) when their promotional price is up. Personally I'd never do that since it's a PITA just to save a few bucks. I guess some are tighter on money than myself which is understandable. When my promotional pricing is about to expire I'll call them (ugh... it's a PITA) and get a better deal.

But on a side note... all the big companies (Comcast/Verizon Wireless) charge WAY too much for their services!

$185/month for Triple Play (Phone, Internet, TV)

Because i was moving, even though i was a current verizon customer, they let me get new member pricing on their triple play. I have gigabit internet, dual band router, a free year of dvr, a free year of hbo, for 79.99/month. After the year is up ill drop the dvr and hbo, never really use them anyway. After the two years ill probably just cut the cord and do over the air hd for local, and stream the rest.

Cutting the cord sounds so awesome but the wife (old school) would never do that. I think if Comcast didn't have the Netflix app built into the X1 box she wouldn't switch inputs to my Chromecast...

Verizon recently added that to their boxes as well. Go to a certain channel and there it is. I use that on my 11 year old nonsmart tv, but on the main tv it loads netflix much faster through the tv app

That's nice. It definitely helps the old souls (my wife) / less techy (my wife) people. lol

We have a Samsung Plasma (non-smart TV) that is 720p  It's still kicking so no need to replace it. It's not as old as your 11 year old TV but definitely well over 5 years old.

My 11 year old tv is a sony bravia 1080p lcd. Heavy as hell but still works great. Front facing speakers actually sound good.

I have a 2009 Samsung 8000 series Smart TV. The built in apps are crazy slow, even when it was new.

This is my first smart tv, a LG oled55b7p from costco. Amazing picture, built in speakers arent half bad, and apps are blazing fast. Highly recommend the oleds. If you do gaming or watch something eith a ticker or static image there is a chance of burn in though
