    So mine has been in the shop getting the bumper and sliders installed and some serious brake work. Thing wouldn't stop for shit. New master cylinder, booster, and totally revamped rear proportioning valve. Apparently the PV gets all out of whack when you lift these things and then it just starts stopping with the front brakes.

    My plan is to turbo the 1fz, but I've had a bunch of unexpected housing expenses that have eaten into the near-term budget. Well, that and some cams that I bought...

    I actually think the logic is sound. More O2 is required to make full use of those cams. I just don't think I want to go first.

    Have you seen the Wits End kit? I think it's pretty good, buy my mechanic thinks he can do better w/o some of the limitations that Wits End saddled itself with. I'd really like to have 400 hp so it feels like a Tahoe going down the highway. Being in the slow lane with OD off is so sad when I'm driving in CO.

    Yup, read the thread from it's inception. The issue I take with it is they've created a kit with marvelous manifold design, and decent turbo choice and made it an massive underperformer for a huge price. Nobody wants to tune, everyone wants lazy bolt on power. But with boost that just doesn't cut it. These trucks have archaic computer systems that just aren't ready for forced induction. If you're gonna tune (I'm going right for a standalone Megasquirt box) then there's no reason you have to be limited to the piddly boost numbers the Wits end kit is shooting for. The engine is extremely overbuilt, no reason you can't make 450+ out of it with modern EFI. They chose a turbo with a great compressor map for this engine and its so limited. Hell I'm gonna buy this average ass log manifold, port it, port the turbo housing (just a basic HX35 with a billet wheel and .62ar) and with a tune (and modern sensors and injectors) be easily over their estimated power figures with room to grow. It's sounds arrogant of me I'm sure, but I jystt don't see 6k+ of value in their kit when I can do better all around for less. Maybe they're aimed at the guy that doesn't do his own work and just wants to bolt on extra power that isn't a SC? I won't knock it entirely, it's just not for me, and I love Wits End for convenience sake and service sake so no knock on them either. People who buy their kit will have spent more than necessary but will have good room to grow if they ever decide to tune. It's well engineered from a durability standpoint.
