Spend my money: need front wheel bearings

    I have a '15 DCSB TRD OR with 157k. I think it's time for new front wheel bearings. I get the grumbling sound which I can only hear at low speed (right now)

    I found the gentleman here on TW selling replacement NSK bearing assemblies ($325) and I'm going that route. The plan is to purchase parts and work with my local mechanic.

    A couple questions though;

    1. Knowing I'm paying for labor, would it be prudent to also replace CV joints at this time? They aren't bad that I know of, but it would be convenient.

    2. Should I be considering anything else while I'm at it?

    Thanks in advance

    You need the O-ring between the bearing hub and spindle.
    And the dust seal in the back side of the spindle.
    Some guys swear you need the seal on the CV too.
    It’s a pain to get on and off. And I never change the seal on the CV.
    It only gets changed when I change a CV.

    If your CVs are fine. Leave them alone.
    Don’t change them, OE CVs are about the best there are.
    I did my bearings at 135k. Stuck the OLD CV right back in.

    You’ll also need a new cotter pin for the axle nut.
    But surely the shop will have one that fits.

    I wouldn't worry about replacing the axles. I just replace mine at 303K miles only because the boots were tore.
