I'm 100% with you on this one, but prior evidence refutes your statement. Some people have claimed that their vehicle has changed their life, turning it into something that it wasn't before... if you believe in that type of thing...

I have never liked chrome outside of 18-Wheelers. Even on motorcycles, I like a blacked-out look better. But my view is chrome has no place on a truck you plan on offroading. The fake chrome gets easily scratched and looks like sh*t. Black is much easier to clean and repair than chrome especially if it's scuffed. Also being military I prefer more of a "tactical" subdued look and chrome is anything but subdued. I also just think black accent pieces just look cleaner. It puts more emphasis on the color of the vehicle and not the blinding chrome.

If you have a pavement princess and enjoy the look of chrome than go for it, but I guarantee you won't have any offroaders envious.

 

for me, chrome only works on certain colors. someone on here had a red taco all chromed out and it was gorgeous.

my truck is white so the chrome doesn't work as well.

 

Yeah, but a beta's Raptor/GTR/Corvette still has what it takes to give tingles the roaring Camry snoozefest well not so much. Kathy in accounting has the same engine in her Highlander

I'm not big on black wheels but they suit certain applications. I would absolutely rock a bright silver wheel on my Barcelona red access cab though. I think it would look sick.

 

In many ways vehicle choice can be outward expression. You’ll notice some people choose to express more than others. Whether or not the person inside is actually what they are trying to express is debatable.

I like the blacked out look because it projects the content of my soul to the world. Very Dark. I want them to know what they are getting so there are no surprises.

 

Mine is grey, with bronze wheels. It says I’ve got a pretty bleak outlook mostly, but every once in awhile I like to party

Because cheap plastic chrome looks exactly like cheap plastic chrome.

 

Nothings says bland like beige. Or, in the case of Gen 3, quickbeige.

 

Maybe change to a Hobbes face then?

 

And most of the chrome you see these days are just fiberglass or plastic painted to look chrome.

 

I just think chrome makes the truck looks like an old person car, which I guess your statement supports that theory. I do think chrome can look really good if done tastefully, I just don't really see many tacomas looking decent with chrome.

The last vehicle I had that had any measurable amount of chrome was my 1982 Oldsmobile Omega. No way I'm going back to that!

Black with just a touch of red and referred to as Vader so I'm right there with you, fellow nerd!
