Because cheap chrome will look bad quick. This is why the original chrome bumper on my 1992 Chevy C1500 is in great shape yet most chrome bumpers made in the past 3-5 years are rusted and flaking. Every cut yourself on flaking chrome? That was the day I pulled all the chrome door handles off my Nissan Titan!

 

Beige is the official color of the cucumber sandwich eating, orthopedic shoe wearing geriatrics. It is known.

Chrome is only acceptable on Old School Hotrods, Harleys, and Peterbilts. On anything else it just looks wrong. Accent pieces can be coordinated, or contrast, or black, or grey, but chrome just blinds your ass and plastichrome belongs in PepBoys/VatoZone isle for profiling purposes.

Nah man, I black out things on the exterior of my truck because I think the contrast between the white truck and black badges looks sharp. I black out the interior chrome, especially the cup holder chrome because it blinds me when the sun is at certain angles. Also, I just prefer it. I don't do it to look hard...that's what the beard, tattoos, and tactical clothing even though i've never been in the military are for.

The use of chrome is very minimal on the current design. Don’t see the big deal. The chrome changes color with the lighting too. Sometimes you can’t even tell it is there.
