I'm at work for 4 hours today, but I'm anxiously waiting for that text "you got another one?!" since a few trusted people have the keypad combination for my place.

About 4 years. She was very secretive and mostly stayed in a burrow under a fake rock. My daughter noticed that she hadn't been out and told me to check on her. She had tried to molt under the rock and had a problem getting free from the molt and expired. It looked as if I had looked a day sooner we might have saved her. Shame too, she had molted out to the largest p. murinus I had ever seen. Mellow too. Unlike the male I had before her who would attack the side of his tank when someone walked by .
To be clear, not so mellow that I would consider handling her. But Mellow.

So I thought I heard a little rustling only to see my A. Versicolor trying to climb in one single corner.

It didn't head for the vines, or turn around to the tree or anything so I had an idea.

Never seen or heard of this being done but I went ahead and bought a small piece of "carpet" meant for terrariums. Rather than use it on the floor, I cut and pressed it to the sides. I don't have anything to adhere the carpet to the walls but its in place due to the branches and cork I have in there.

Worked perfectly as now it's sitting on top.

Just trying to give as much as it needs.

How do you guys get a spider from an enclosure into a new enclosure? At gunpoint? ;)

Seriously, if a spider is aggressive??

Just let it crawl on your hand, place your hand in the enclosure, and it crawl off lol

I only did that for one; the other needed a little persuasion :anonymous:

(BTW spiders are defensive, not aggressive)

I got home from work and was able to rehome all the M balfouri into their own solo enclosure. Good thing, cuz I woke up to find two whose legs were locked and staring at each other. Sorry, no pics, I was in a rush but they all look unscathed!

Give them a place to retreat to. I wore welding gloves for dealing with the male OBT.
Tongs with a small block of foam rubber for humidity sometimes will absorb an attack while encouraging someone toward a hide in the worst situations. Mostly be flexible about when if possible.

Coax the spider into the new enclosure when able, otherwise get it into a catch cup then to the new enclosure. Here's a vid transferring my Tapinauchenius violaceus into a larger enclosure.

Nice! I've not had any time with t violaceus but it seems similar to avics I have been around.

Thanks! I love my t violaceus ... and it's much larger now compared to that vid (pic from just now below). Like most arboreals it's super fast and agile. Great feeding response too.

    @Pinay

Even though they're in separate enclosures, how are your M. Balfouri doing?

Great! Four of the six are buried deep in their substrate and are prob hiding from all the moving they’ve done!
I didn’t mention I had a close almost escape yesterday but my old hands are still quick!

What’s the latest on your CL contact?

Dang, least they are pretty well and all.

I remember you said one didn't eat before trying to introduce them all; did it finally eat?

Since we're all sheltered in, you should handle one of your T's  Brazilian Black of course...not the others

My contact has yet to get back to me but he did say he won't be available until after the weekend.

Yes, they all ate before the attempt at introduction. As a matter of fact, the last one had three crickets that she at first would run from and they were all gone by the time intro was attempted.

If only they would all come out and play! But one of the Brazilians has been dug in and the other is lounging, def more mellow than the fighting balfouris!
