Just replaced my spiral cable on my 2014 because my horn wouldn’t work unless the steering wheel was turned. No problem, easy job. However, now my airbag light remains on. Ugh!

    Any suggestions?

Maybe disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, reconnect, and check again?

Or you have something connected incorrectly or incompletely.

I had disconnected the battery while I did this (about 40 minutes start to finish).

Took everything apart again to ensure all connections were tight.

Amazon. Really hoping that is not where I went wrong, but we’ll aware it may be just that

Possible you have a different code going on in the SRS system?

This is a stupid question, but gotta be sure, did you plug in the clockspring entirely?

I think recalls are only good for one and done. I suspect my dealer never replaced mine, because my horn is no longer operable as well. Stupid problem to have on what has otherwise been a good truck.

What do you mean one and done? It was replaced before?

I mean service records will show if the spiral cable was replaced under warranty, if your in doubt. Anyone here have an active TIS account and can run his VIN? Mine expired couple months ago, when I can renew it ($75 a month) I'll run it for you. Or maybe just ask another dealership to run your VIN?

I got a POS Amazon one for the wife's truck. When I did it, the air bag light went on too and wouldn't go off. I took everything apart and noticed I hadn't fully closed one of the yellow air bag connectors because the new clock spring was just a bit off of factory fit and finish. I would go back and check your work before you try to diagnose anything else.

EDIT: to my knowledge, the air bag system monitoring is in real time. If it all checks out, the light will disappear without the need to re-set/clear the code.

I wouldn’t use any aftermarket clockspring. That is probably your problem. I Had the same problem that you had. Horn wouldn’t sound unless I turned the steering wheel. Replaced the clockspring with oem and have been good for over a year. I’ve heard nothing good about aftermarket clocksprings.

    Thanks everyone.

I reinstalled my original cable and the airbag light went out (but the horn still didn’t work).

Guess I’ll have to get off my wallet.
