That's good to know. At that price point its hard not to go for it, but there isn't much known about how it works long-term or what the pitfalls are.

I can ask if he’s cool with giving his info. You can hear a review straight from him.

It would primarily be interested to know exactly why he switched so quickly after just one day.

Well I think the day 1 thing might be over exaggerating but I know he wasn’t happy with it. Just sent him a PM. We’ll see if he jumps in on this

The remote switch was inconsistent - wasn’t able turn on/off any of the accessories consistently from inside the cab. I literally had to be within few feet away from the main controller for it to work. Had to replace the battery for the remote every month - even if I didn’t use it, which became a hassle

But I had one of their original models. They updated the unit by adding 2 antennas to the controller to fix the spotty remote connection, but not sure if it did resolve the issue.

Having used both units .. I’d go with the switch pro hands down.

Having the Trigger Controller (v2 I believe) for about 4 months now, I am quite happy with its performance! and have had ZERO issues with it from day one. I have yet to install the rocker switches in the cab, so I have just been using my phone to control the lights (no Bluetooth connectivity issues either). Some things that caught my eye when i was in the market for a control panel was the main unit is sealed, has a strobe feature, and a low voltage cutoff settings to my choosing. It gets my recommendation.

Switch pros it is then! Solid state system is also a huge plus. Now it's just a matter of wiring everything up. It's a bit intimidating, but again, there seems to be a lot of help and support out here with these setups.

Have fun! It's honestly not as bad as it looks.
There is a ton of support.
There's alsi lots of good YouTube videos on the correct way to crimp and heat shrink wiring.

Other products like power trays are also immensely helpful. I know it is an additional cost but I have to say it's worth its weight in gold.

Lol I decided to go with power trays because they sell a great accessories pack with terminal blocks, blueseas fuse panels and all the cables. Saved me a significant amount of time and energy.

And the attention to detail is top notch. Every battery cable end is put on at just the right angle so every wires lines up perfectly, no twisting and turning. See the photo of one of the ground cables connecting the blue seas fuse block and the grounding bar.

Again...more money, but it would have taken me more time than I'm willing to admit to put together something half as good.

Will definitely be going the power tray route. How did you mount the switch board inside the truck? Currently I have my buttons mounted in the cubby with a Cali raised bracket. I’d like to keep it there.

I have mine mounted DIY in the cubby.
I also had plans to buy a cheap phone holder, modify it and mount it to the air vent to the left of the steering wheel.

If you have a manual Tacoma, expedition essentials makes a cheap mount for the sunglasses tray.

A few people have mounted it in the headliner above the map lights.

Watching intently..... I am at the point in my build where I am ready to spend money on lights and electronics. Dual battery + solar. Lights all around. Everything needs a switch. I am leaning heavily toward the Power Tray route as well, and probably SwitchPro unit for the lights.

Powertray is the best Switchpro accessory to date. And his new plate combos have really opened a lot of avenues that didn't exist when I got mine

As another data point, in the SP8100 times, the app was GOD AWFUL, barely worked if at all.

I have a 9100 now, and it seems to work much more consistently.

I thought that you don’t need terminal blocks with the switch pro units....you can just connect to their wiring harness?

I can see it being a good way to change stuff later or isolate issues.

The price and features on this unit seem ideal, any feedback on this?
It’s half the price of the Spro.

It looks like the controller will fit in the switch pro cubby mounts.

You don't have to. Technically switchpros recommends that you do not use terminal blocks.
Just makes wiring and troubleshooting earlier.

I think they're just worried about water getting into the wires because people use crappy Fisher Price crimp connectors.

Do it well and it will be fine
