So I wanted to post this to the forum(already did on Facebook) Incase others have had issues.
So a little back story is I had to do wheel bearings on my 06 and noticed a leaking front caliper! I started stockpiling parts(2 calipers, wheel cylinders, brake pads and shoes, stainless lines, and new copper nickel hard lines throughout) and got everything installed 1/20/20.
After getting everything put back together my brake pedal felt like absolute garbage, wouldn’t engage till 3” of travel and spongy as hell! I bled and re bled multiple times to no avail. I had many many recommendations to bleed abs,tap or rotate calipers during bleeding, key on during bleeding, etc etc and also the most common recommendation was rear brake adjustment or master cylinder bad. Replaced master cylinder and same outcome, replaced rear drums and adjusted and same outcome. I even borrowed a pressure bleeder that pressurized the master cylinder for bleeding as I was being told I was doing it wrong with the two person method.

Well fast forward to yesterday when I have had enough and decided to drop in to the local yota dealership and pick the service managers brain! I have bled these damn things and have flushed almost 200 ounces of SUPERTECH DOT 3 through my system and not one air bubble since my 2nd bleed a week ago.
Well he proceeded to tell me that the “Toyota dot 3” had special polymers in it and said “ give it a shot you got nothing to lose“ at this point. So I spent a couple hours yesterday morning and flushed several bottles of Toyota dot 3 through the system(zero air) and hopped in the truck to just figure pedal would remain the same! NOPE! It fixed my issue 100% and my brakes have never felt this good since I’ve owned the truck the last three years. So responsive and so firm I am absolutely ecstatic with the performance of the braking system now.

I will keep the post updated if my pedal decides to go to mush again, as I still can’t figure out how the fluid could change things. Dot 3 is dot 3 right

EDIT: A lot of people saying that fluid does not change the feel, and air had to be the issue! Which I agree that fluid brand shouldn’t affect feel. So I will continue to bleed once a week for the next couple months and see what I come up with

If must be a 2006 thing. As long as it worked for you, it’s a win. But.......I flushed and replace my 2015 with valvoline Dot 3 Dot 4 and it’s fine.

No it’s called a “just my luck thing hahaha”... I’m not recommending everybody switches to Toyota fluid. Just recommending if anyone has done any maintenance and have had a spongy pedal feel
