    Hello to all !
I have a 2006 Tacoma, had a spongy peddle and brake clunking - this is what I did to repair both condition’s -
Replaced front rotors and pads with the better brand, not the cheap off shore “crap” that you can get. I also noticed when I pulled the rubber cups off the rear wheel cylinders, it started dripping brake fluid. So I replaced rear wheel cylinders, rear shoes, and a “NEW” rear Combe kit (new rear spring kit). If you leave the “old” spring kit on new rear shoes, this will cause rear shoes to move “excessively” inside the drum, causing a clunking noise when letting off the brake peddle. You can also make sure that rear emergency brake cables aren’t rusted through the backing plate. This in my case solved both issues !
