Took my 19 Sport out on the snowy highway today for the first time. NOT Impressed compared to the 04 Tundra I traded. This puppy is slippy big time and yes it was in 4hi and being an old man I drive like one. Having only 7500 miles on it it's gonna be a long time before I need tires. I'm really missing my Tundra. Best truck I ever had. Walk away with a ton of coal in the back like nothin. Anyone else slippin and sliden in their Sport?

Tires are probably not as good as what you had in the Tundra, Tundra is also a lot heavier. Throw some sandbags in the bed and it will help

Keep in mind. 4WD does not guarantee no slipping.

No matter what type of drive system you have, slipping and control depend on the driver.

The systems on the vehicle are there to help, not eliminate.

First winter I'm running blizzaks. Love them so far. Only used 4hi three times so far this winter!! How do you like yours?

Back when we got our first Tacoma ten years ago I thought I'd just All-Terrain through the winter.. That lasted two weeks and I was sick of the ABS lights and spinning tires.. Put Blizzaks on and it's been perfect ever since.

It's a relief to not worry about road conditions during the winter, I can focus on avoiding all the other drivers sliding around.

Snow tires and 3 bags of tube sand in the bed by the wheel wells should alleviate that issue.

I got rid of my firestones before it even rolled it's first 10,000 miles. I gave them an honest shot but I couldnt get past their dismal wet performance. Get yourself some winter tires, and preferably a set of summer tires too.

I was actually very impressed with the stock snow performance on my TRD OR last week. The stock Goodyear tires aren’t severe snow rated, but they did great on unplowed streets in 4 Hi. Maybe my work vehicle (2020 Blazer) is just so terrible in snow the Taco seems great. I tried 2wd with all of the traction control turned off, it was sliding all over the place. I’m not sure how they’ll do on plowed streets, but I still plan on upgrading to something more snow worthy. Nokian makes an AT tire now, they are known for their winter performance.

    That's why I bought an Off Road....

Seriously though, I replaced my Kevlar Highway Tires with Goodyear Duratracs. Awesome!!!

I once drove from keystone to downtown Denver in a blizzard. Used 4x4 the whole way, snow up to the wheel wells. It’s all about tires. Get some severe snow service rated all terrains ( snowflake symbol), and throw some sandbags in the bed and call it a day. Any 4x4 taco will be adequate in the snow, if you need the locker on the off-road in the snow it probably means you put your truck in a ditch.

Was out this morning for about 4 hours in 6-8 inches of snow, roads were hardly touched but I had no problems at all. Was in 4 hi the entire time. 9EC87AAA-13BB-478D-A274-2A4A1847F787.jpg40439E16-ADF6-4E77-B5C4-A6AD44799633.jpg

The stock Toyo A30s were a mediocre tire overall and pretty crappy in the wet. Surprisingly, they did better than expected in snow and offroad. But, the rear was twitchy with no weight back there. As was posted, get at least two bags of sand and lash it back there.

I drive fairly aggressively and never felt unsafe in the snow. A different tire will change things dramatically. Even make it a bit boring.

The town I live in never gets snow or ice. Its weird how the town next to mine will get snow every winter (literally 10 miles apart)
