What some don't seem to do (and I have seen videos of this failure) is to put your foot into it... I mean stomp down on the accelerator... A-TRAC as a beast, and you need to show it who's boss! But really, the more important way to get unstuck in sand, or avoid getting stuck is to lower the tire pressure a lot... see the sidewall buldge...

x2. I love my 4x4 sport, and have pulled out more than a few OR's from spots that I crawled right through. And I get the hood skewp

It probably has more to do with the driver than the truck. With the lockers and A-Trac you "can" do more... If you know how.

well maybe just cause im not scared to get out and try shit, but my friend with the fj40, that thing is a rockcrawler for sure and he would struggle to get up a lot of places that i made it up easy as pie, now obviously with his higher lift and shorter wheel base, he can still do stuff i cant, but a lot depends on the driver, alls im saying is i have gotten my sport into some pretty amazing spots.

Damn salesmen don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground. I went to 5 different stealerships when looking and everyone of them as far as I can remember said the suspension was the same between the sport and or. They did have other things that I knew they were telling me wrong so I'm not surprised. At times I knew more about the options than they did. So OP do your homework.

Not just Toyota either, on my wife's Accord the salesmen (2 different dealers) told us some features wrong also.

I just wish I could figure out the appeal of a fake hood scoop over REAL functioning items like a locking rear differential and Active Traction Control!

Sport - if you like the color matched handles/mirrors/grille/bumper and the hood scoop. And if you are looking for a long bed option if desired.

OffRoad - if you don't care about the color matched options and scoop

I can't understand it either. I know alot of people like the looks of fake hood scoops but it's the last thing I'd want on ANY vehical. The fact that it's poser just didn't settle well with me.

It's not just the scoop, remember...........color matched grille/bumpers and different wheels. Ride is a little smoother also due to the different tires. That means a lot to some.

i have the sport and i would say get the offroad just cause its alot easier to find a sport hood then to get a rear locker and a-trac which sounds like the shit to have

Very true sir, people think that the reason is just for the scoop....... i hate chrome, but it does look like i may be leaning towards the off road just to have a lil better ability of the truck. Got a salesman down to 29000 before tax's today on a off road double cab brand new.... we shal see where this takes me.

You do have a point. I'd much rather have color match than the chrome. I even love the looks of the Sport hood...it's a shame Toyota didn't design it to be functional.
