    Opinions please:
I have a 2022 AC TRD Sport but I also have a set of TRD Off Road struts sitting in my garage. Just ordered some Bilstein 5100s for a 2" lift. Would you use the Sport springs or the Off Road springs on the 5100s? Is there even a difference in the springs? Or should I just order some OME 888s?
My truck is stock except for a diamondback cover.
I drive about 50% highway and 50% dirt roads. I'm looking for more comfort and control on the rough roads. Thanks in advance!

Springs are same. Shocks are different.

See my build thread. I reused my Sport springs and enjoy every mile.

If you're going to lift the rear, you'll want 5125s instead of 5100s, which are the same length as stock.

The Sport springs are stiffer. Something like 650lb/in versus 700lb/in. There's posts around here somewhere from someone that tested them.

You are right that the shocks are different also. PoS Hitachis that are different than the SR / SR5.

Either way, they all work with the 5100s.

I'd use the slightly softer OR springs.

Also if you gravel road that much, don't go too high with the clips, the higher you set it, the less down travel you have available. I always recommend not going above the 3rd clip.

I hammer on back roads so I left my truck stock with boring 4600's, but regret not getting 5100's at zero clip.

tonered, You have a nice build thread. I'll be checking in as I build mine!
For the rear shocks, everything I read says that the 5100s are good for up to 2" and the 5125s are for 2"+
I'm expecting about 1.5" lift in the rear...I already ordered the 5100s so hopefully they work.

I had that same setup in rear with 5100’s no problem.

    Thanks! I appreciate that.

I'm not saying that the 5100s won't work, just that you will be losing articulation since they are the same as stock for the 3rd Gen. The issue is that Bilstein's info is based on the 2nd Gen which was 1.0in lower.

There's pics in my thread with the stock shock unbolted. With the Icon RXT leaf pack, there is 2.5in more down travel without stressing the brake lines.

And also, some pics here on TW of the stock shock next to the 5100.

I could have sworn it was the opposite.

It's the OR that has the sightly heavier springs.

The Sport had 650 lb springs but stiffer Hitachis. The OR had 700 lb springs (I think, perpetuating the bullshit I read in here) but it's offset by the very weak shocks.

Result, both trucks carry the same weight but the OR is more soft-sprung (with the heavier springs).

    :notsure:

I'll have to do some searching when I have a computer in front of me.

Regardless, my Taco feels gooooode with the current setup.

Yarp, the 6112s run 650 pound springs also. Pretty nice.

    Nice!

About the only upside of the crap stock shocks is that the upgrades are fun.

Either way, Bilstein recommends you keep the stock springs. I thought the Sport & Off Road had the same springs, but I know nuthin'....

But wasn't there something about not being able to use the full 2" on AC models?
