True, but I like them for their looks. Had a chance at getting a used 2006 Charger for my first vehicle but it had the smaller V6 and my dad didn't want me getting run over but I fell in love with the Charger. Challengers look too much like the classic American Muscle car for me not to like them.

And my friend's dad has a new Mustang and loves it and I think it would be cool. Just my opinion.

yea, but the OP wants a sports car that can handle corners not just a go fast car.

Psh, I read the original post and answered, not the other 11 ish pages
Handling, I would get this, only problem is it is over budget, but still fast and will corner.

I would rather have this over the STi because it is different. Simple.

One of these would be kinda cool too

If you really want to go fast, get a bike. you can use it as a drag bike if your into that, or a canyon bike or track that sucker out and go nutz.

Get a corvette, you will have the best years of your life driving it. The only downside is your tacoma will always be in the garage. Maintaince isnt extremly pricy and there easy to modifiy and work on if thats your thing. One of the pop up lights on my '02 broke so i ordered the replacement parts, took apart the gear and replaced it. Coupe is my perferance, the removable t-top is nice.

This is a myth. In the road testing below, that solid rear axle Mustang GT outperforms S2000's, STI's, and EVO's on a road course. If you look on the chart below, the GT500 (way out of the $25k price range) with a live axle does better than the Lotus Exige S!

You need power and handling to have a well balanced performance car.

It's hard to find a vehicle that fits your every need. I found myself a used 2003 CLK55 AMG with low miles. I wanted comfort, power, handling, luxury, style, convenience all wrapped up in one. I found this in CLK55. I owned a 2006 CLK350 and loved it, never had a problem with it, the thing is to get what fits you not others.

I was going to comment as well. with todays suspension design. back when they used four control arms or leaf springs yes. The main difference would be perfomance over bumps, but thats a trade off for wheel hop you get with irs.

I'm probably the biggest advocate for the new mustang who would consider himself a non-domestic lover. And to clarify, I like them they just aren't my preference more often than not. But the new Mustang GT really is a piece of work. Ford gets a "job well done" for that one.

However, the course that Car and Driver did those lightning laps on was VIR. A race track built like a damn triangle with LOOOOOONG straights. It doesn't surprise me that high powered cars did well there. What does surprise me is how a Lotus Elise came within 1 second of a car that has twice the power...that really shows how much better the Elise really handles. That chap probably didn't have to touch the brakes lol

Actually, I wrote an article for my car blog recently about the NEW 2012 GT500. All of the things that Hammond was talking about that the previous GT500 was missing...it now has. Including 650hp out of the box yielding a 200+mph top speed from the factory. :D

    Check it out!

Yeah after reading through the thread, I thought you might find some value in what I had found out.

I never got to drive an exige or elise...just sat in one at the dealer. For exige vs. elise, the exige has a hard top (removable with some difficulty) on it and a wing. That's it. The wing is functional and adds some downforce. After 07 (ish) all exiges came supercharged. Other than that they're the same.

The vette is a beast...it would be my go to car for a track day.
