I was just thinking....My truck is an absolute sloth with mallcrawlers. I'm getting 4.88's next month because basically its undriveable.

Either way, that withstanding. I mean minus @wileydavis knobs, this joint is pretty much an air freshener away from SEMA status. Dang I'm poor.:(

Funny thing with all the extra overland crap on it, it might actually be "worth" that, but good luck trying to find someone to pay that much. I hope he's ready to take a huge loss on all that stuff or strip it off and CL the aftermarket parts.

Half the fun is building up your truck , but fuuuuuuuck... I've been sitting here thinking about for the last few minutes cuz that thing is rad.

Get in regeared in FL and the use part of the drive for the break in period.

    On a side note, I think I watched @BountyOR_VF2 s sig gif like 20 times...mesmerizing.

I saw that truck for sale on overland bound. I'll see if I can go dig up his asking price.

Maybe it’s just me, but when I see these “overland” Tacos, they just look bloated, overly expensive, and slow. There seems to be a trend here of buying all the same crap that everyone else buys, bolting it all on, then taking the truck on it’s maiden voyage. Two days later you figure out camping isn’t your thing, and driving a 3.5 tonne vehicle with a 3.5L motor sucks balls. Next it’s off to Craigslist or EBay at a painful discount.

To all the bros out there with a ground tent, and a mildly modified, yet highly capable Taco, my hats off to you. :hattip:

All it needs is a true IFS skid and Gears. Looks like a solid truck though. Hopefully no title or damage issues.

Fuck a ground tent even. Sleep in the bed.

Someone put some love into that truck.

When I see an awning, I’m like “ an AWNING? You needed/wanted an AWNING?” Does the owner subscribe to better homes and gardens “truck edition”? Next thing you know people are gonna have a bed trellis and a bird feeder. Wtf happened to off roading and camping? Like, at what point did someone say “you know, this truck needs more Martha Stewart. I want a Viking 4 burner range and a vegetable sink here, and I wanna move all the sleeping arrangements UP, that way I can bring a TON of stuff that isn’t ACTUALLY necessary, and store it all in the bed. Put a Davenport in the corner, that’ll really tie everything together...yeah”

^Mine is a short bed, so I don’t fit, unless I do the “tail-gate open with a tarp”, which is also a viable option.

Anyways.......the aftermarket is making a killing off the guys who do this to their Tacomas. I’m not sure if it’s love, or paranoia, or OCD, or herd-mentality, but it is certainly not meeting a pressing “need”, from what I can tell from my own experiences. It certainly looks cool, so there’s value in that I suppose.

My honest advice to anyone reading this, with a limited amount of money, who hasn’t ever driven a 4x4 or gone out camping is this:

Spend a year or so with your truck stock (Tacoma or otherwise), and purchase some basic camping gear before you drop big bills on a ‘built’ rig like this. If heading into rough terrain, join a club or go out with friends with some very basic recovery gear. After a year, you will figure out what you really like, and what you really need, and then you can spend your money wisely on the really good stuff you actually are going to use. The rest of the money you save can be spent on gas and time off to get you to places that you dream of going.

Don’t convince yourself you can’t go camping, cover rough terrain, or access awesome places, without a winch, rotopacks, and rock lights. With all this heavy aftermarket bling on your now lumbering rig, you are more likely to bog down and get stuck, or simply run out of fuel.

I think it’s love. Most of it anyway. Rotopax and maxxtrax are cool, and you gotta put em somewhere. So I’ll go with love. But the awning... I can’t even. And the cooking stuff. Different strokes and all that, I get it. But if I was told I couldn’t build and cook over a fire, it would kill the outdoors for me damn near. Making a pit, selecting the wood, tinder, and kindling.

People throw out the word "need" pretty regularly. No one "needs" a Roof Top Tent, but they are a huge improvement over ground
camping with a tent, and ground camping with a tent in much better than ground camping with no tent. Realistically you don't "need"
    a tent to camp.

An awning is awesome! If you haven't used one, you're missing out.

Bottom line is not every seat fits every butt. This truck is setup to go and enjoy without having to turn a wrench.
If it doesn't fit your needs, you don't have to justify it to anyone but yourself.

I am sure you are right. I’m probably looking at the negative, but I think my advice is still valid for many. In my own life, I recall a few times where I got into some place that I figured I could not have gotten without my burly 4X4, only to find some dude camped there in there in a 2WD Dodge Van, or Corolla, having the same experience I was.

If you watch the industry-sponsored YouTube channels like ‘Expedition Overland’ etc, they are always driving along dirt roads in their fully built rigs, while the locals are coming in the opposite direction in a 1982 Peugeot.

Just my two bits. All these aftermarket purchases are keeping the economy churning if nothing else.
