Went to install my CBE and ran into some trouble with spot welds (2) on each nut/flange. Anyone have a quick fix on how to get these suckers to budge?

    Thanks!

If he has to ask this question he should really just take it to someone else.

Cut off wheel is literally the only thing you should use for that situation. If you are talking about those little 1" discs for a dremel, youll chew through a bunch of them. Not worth the effort. You want to use a cutoff wheel on a grinder.

You could also just go on the other side of that flange to the bolt head that isn't spot welded. It'll loosen too without any grinding.

Please tell me the bolts are also welded and you didn't start this thread instead of simply loosening from the bolt side.

Honestly when I installed my cbe on my STI the nuts were not spot welded and I had to use a wrench as well as a socket to disconnect the appropriate flange. In hindsight, Toyota is genius for doing this for the techs / whoever works with the exhaust at all in the future. It was a huge pain doing the cbe install on the subi for that very reason - having to hold both sides and crank down.

I used a torque wrench and the bolts came right off with no struggle.

Thank you guys for your help! Silly mistake however this thread will help someone else who makes the same error.

Also, it was dark out when I did this lol so i just figured the bolts were welded too, before actually giving them a good inspection.
