Hey guys finally decided to use a spray on wax since I've read good things about them. Completely washed my truck , dried it , then waited 30 minutes to make sure it was completely dry. I applied the spray wax just as directions said and once I wiped it off spots were all over my hood. I can't figure out how to remove them please help.

that's weird. what brand of wax? what was your application method? panel by panel or did you spray the whole truck before wiping off?

you could try spraying a microfiber with the wax until it's wet, then wipe the towel across the surface and buff dry with a second towel.

You most likely didn't get all of the wax off the hood. If it has sit out in the sun, it's probably caked on there pretty good. Try buffing it out with a microfiber cloth like harpo suggested. If that doesn't work, bring out the buffer and apply some mirror glaze to it. Just be sure to re-apply wax once finished!

I used Meguiars quick wax in spray bottle. Did just a directions stated apply to small area and spread then use dry towel to reveal shine.

How long did you let the wax stay on the truck before wiping off? Also did you do this in direct sunlight?

I immediately wiped wax off no sitting time and I was in garage even though the bottle says it can be done in sunlight.

Hmmm, that's weird. Have you tried giving it a good bath?

That's sooo strange. Maybe you got a defective wax, but you'd think it would be everywhere on the truck not just the hood.

create an account on the Meguires online forum (MOL). ask the question there if you really want an answer. someone from the company will likely jump in on the thread. particularly if you have something like "quick wax causing spots" in the subject line of the post. they're really good about helping out over there if you're in a bind. and a better knowledge base as far as detailing goes.

you got me stumped! Ive had good luck with the stuff, although I like turtle wax ice-spray wax better. great shine and longevity (much better than Meg's, in my opinion).

ha I discovered the ICE a couple weeks ago. I'm addicted!!! can't believe the shine that it generates. I've got a good base of ultimate liquid, but the Ice really brings it up a notch. the Meg's quick wax seems to knock it down a notch in comparison.

Did you shake the bottle well before applying? If not, maybe the product separated some in the bottle? That is about the only other thing I can think of that might contribute to this.

I initially used Mothers wax until I found ICE and I haven't gone back since!

Hard to tell by the pics but does your paint have any oxidation on it? I detailed a white mini-van a couple years ago & it had some light oxidation on the hood & roof that looked very similar (splotchy) to that.

Like a few others have said on here. ICE is the best wax I've found so far. If you happen to hit some plastic it leaves no residue. Hell... I even wax my mirrors with it.

Now to your problem. That seems unusual but I've never used spray wax. If the spots don't come out you could always try to claybar the truck then give it a good wax job. Hopefully that will take care of the spots. I claybar my truck at least twice a year.

It looks like your clearcoat was already stained and the wax application made it more visible. I would polish your paint. This will smooth out your clearcoat and remove those stains. Use a machine to polish for maximum effectiveness.

Didn't read all the Replys but I imagine it has to do with the integrated clear on the super whites
I'd use a fine cut polish and hit the hood with it by hand, follow up with some good wax & I Bet it vanishes...
