Buy once cry once. Every time I go cheap on a purchase to save money I end up regretting it.

What are you wanting to spend? What will it's primary use be? Good glass is spendy.

150 or less, I know I'm not getting a top shelf item for that.
I'll be looking at far away things :D Target spotting, bird watching, just general stuff and not heavy use.
I know good glass is spendy, I have several Leupold scopes and binocs. Ant there is glass WAY higher priced.

Ifen you’re already accustomed to the Leupold glass, you’re not gonna be very happy with cheaper glass for a spotting scope. The inexpensive glass is going to be tough on your eyes for extended periods (eyes fatigue faster)

I know and agree. But I won't be spotting all day in the mountains or anything like that. I'm thinking try inexpensive at first, and see how I get along with it. I can always return it.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Inexpensive glass is just that. Inexpensive. And it's inexpensive for a reason. For $150 go to Dicks and pick up whatever is in that price range. For double (maybe a little more) the $150 you can get into the Nikon Prostaff or Vortex Diamondback series. Much much better glass and better warranty to boot. Get on some birdwatching websites and read the reviews on Vortex optics, even the low end ones get good reviews.

I appreciate your input. Still above my price. I'm going to try low end and if it doesn't work for me, return. I've looked thru a Vortex rifle scope, impressive for sure. And in the end, I may wind up with Vortex or something comparable.
