I also think it's worth noting the drastic differences in spray in bed liners. Some, like the old Rhino liner stuff were rock hard and a chisel and hammer could barely mess it up. But then others, like the rubbery Ford branded stuff was more for traction, and was much softer and easier to scratch off. Then Linex is sorta in between. I'm not sure what the Toyota stuff is like, or what it's for? Just for traction? Protection? just to make Toyota more money???

My brother bought a 1 year old 2006 Tundra the same month that I bought my 2007 Tacoma new. He paid to have a spray in bedliner. After 17 years most of his bed liner is gone and is down to the paint. My "plastic" bed has held up much better.

I want neither a spray in or drop in bed liner. I'm fine with my Tacoma as is but put a bed mat in my F150. Much cheaper, and much better IMO.

I'm inclined to agree. I wouldn't have gotten it, but the allocation I got was almost exactly what I wanted besides the liner and it was too late to request a change. The literature says it can be serviced or repaired at the dealer, though. If it gets skooged up, sounds like they can correct it pretty easily. I doubt fixing messed up inner bed panels is easy to do.

atc250r - I'm going to derail my own thread, but I grew up in the 70s and 80s riding three wheelers. Still have a mint 1981 ATC200S with the Hondaline fairing, rear rack, and tow hitch. Its all original and still looks like new (was my grandpa's).
    Owned all the fun Honda's over the years (250Rs, 200Xs, 350X, 250SX).

Cool. I've had a few 250R's, a couple of 350X's, a 125M, a couple 70's, and an 86 Tecate. Still have the R I bought in 95, the Tecate, and one 70 that's really nice but is just a roller at the moment.

Yes sir, it will come into Port of NJ where it will receive all of the DIO options. Once that is complete it will be loaded onto rail and moved to Selkirk, NY rail yard and finally load onto a truck to be delivered to dealer.

Nice, I bought a new 85' ATC250R. I regret so much that I sold that. I loved that thing.

Ah, neat. The dockworkers’ strike is over already — they apparently got most of what they wanted, which is good — so maybe things will be moving along again!

My personal experience shadows most feedback I’ve seen from Gen2/3 owners, which is all you need is a bed mat. So proven in its durability, that Tundra was converted over to composite in ‘22.

Probably why after 20 years of composite, it was a head-scratcher for many to see Toyota start spontaneously charging people for spray-on liners on Tacomas from the port.

I still want an opportunity to ride an actual 350X 3-wheeler someday... Had a brand new 350X motor installed in my old 300ex when I was a teenager (2001-ish?). Was one of a number of Honda 3 wheeler motors our high school auto shop had in the attic. Apparently given to schools when 3 wheelers were no longer allowed for sale, it was my understanding new inventory had frames cut and the engines given to schools. They also had a handful of brand new shaft drive 3 wheeler motors they never did anything with.

It's just so subjective. To me, these little scratches are nothing compared to a steel bed that rusts when the paint peels off. Small scratches can lead to actual issues, whereas small scratches in the composite bed doesn't compromise it's long term integrity. If it's just strictly a visual thing, I guess you can try to line it and hope it doesn't just chip off...

the isssue is it’s not just cosmetic our beds are a plastic fiberglass composite so the fiberglass chips off and the bed is pretty thin

    What do you consider thin?

Look I get it our trucks aren’t real trucks and good for Home Depot sod runs at best but the first gen Tacoma had a metal bed then Toyota was like uh oh we use cheap rusty Chinese steel (Dana) so instead of getting a better supplier let’s just cut costs and give them a cheap plastic bed. Before the sack riders say plastic beds are superior every real truck out there that is an actual truck (1500/2500s and up all use metal beds)

As someone who has drilled through it to mount things, the thickness varies greatly from place to place. A lot of people think the waffle pattern underneath the bed is the thickness the bed is throughout, it's not. It's closer to 1/4 inch thick in the wheel wells, for example, if not thicker.

I had custom sandwich-plates with a HD D-ring made and mounted here to hold in my camper. Yet to break or crack anything, and it gets a LOT of force yanking on it.

And they rust with every scratch. I like the composite beds.
