Hello everybody, this spring/summer I will be doing a rebuild on my 3RZ (2.7L) I was curious if anybody has any tips or would like me to post an in depth process on how I did mine, I’m planning on building for it around 5-10Psi of boost. I will also be keeping track of cost and time. I don’t think the full rebuild is going to be much more than $3000 but I could be entirely wrong. I won’t be adding the boost yet, not sure whether I want to go turbo or supercharger. Any tips or pointer will be appreciated. Thanks!

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Not much you have to do in terms of building a 3RZ to handle 10psi... they will do that out of the box just fine with decent tuning. I've had two 3RZ trucks and one had the supercharger... speaking from experience here, skip it, go turbo. The SC is expensive for what it offers and underwhelming. It also has no provision for an intercooler of any kind so it makes less power as it gets hotter and is more prone to detonation. KO Racing sells a decent turbo kit, from there you can pick your own intercooler, piping, and tuning solution. If you're for sure going to build the engine, cheap and effective mods are the updated Toyota MLS head gasket, ARP head studs, and ARP rod bolts.

Hell yeah thank you, only reason I said I want to build it for boost is because once I get the power I might want to add on to it but I heavily appreciate that thanks!

I'd be interested in a pretty detailed doc of the process. Been thinking of doing the same to my 04.
