When I took my truck in originally they denied it and gave me so much shit over it that I didn't even want to deal with the dealers anymore. I just went and upgraded the front shocks with 5100's and the Toytec AAL and solved the problem myself. They kept insisting that the problem was resolved for the 2009 models even though the part #'s were the same as the TSB. They could keep their TSB leaf packs and give them to the Canadian made models who apparently need them more than us who use the Fu**ing truck for work and for towing.

I have an 09 and called my dealer a week ago.. (after I called the 1800- toyota #) to complain bout the harsh ride.. No problem at all. My dealer just called this morning to tell me my parts are in so Im scheduled to get it done on Wednesday..No hassles at all.. Id day the key is to call toyota first and get a file# first.

No doubt there are some mental 10-year-olds out there who will want to practice their use of the F-word on me for asking this, but just what is this spring thing all about? On my double cab TRD Off Road, for example, will replacing the 3-leaf springs with the 4-leaf package soften the ride when there is only a light load in the bed or no load, keep the rear from bottoming out when there is a moderate to heavy load in the bed, or both?

I have noticed the rear being a bit bouncy when empty, and I have yet to put much of anything back there. I am contemplating a camper shell, though, which would add some weight, and and a week's worth of camping gear and provisions will add more. I don't figure on hauling ATV's snowmobiles, or anything like that in the bed, but who knows how much that bull elk that I might be lucky enough to get a permit for next season might weigh? :D Is the spring TSB something I should go pestering the dealer about?

By definition- No you don't need it.
In reality- A bit bouncy happens with trucks. The TSB won't soften the ride..if anything it'll be a lil bit stiffer. Most folks are happy they got it done...And worst case- You get it done, hate it, and trade someone on here for their old springs cause their truck is outta warranty.

I live in BC, Canada. I have a 2010 SR5 4x4 4Cyl. When I look at the leaf spring pack, I see 3 leaf springs that are arched and I bar that sort of lays flat. They are all tied together. I am wondering if this is the 3 leaf spring with a bar or is this the 4 leaf spring combination. I know this sounds retarded, but I really dont know if I should be concerned with this TSB. Thanks in advance for all replies.

I guess I don't really need the upgrade since I don't haul that often, but I'm going to give it a try anyways. I'm just like that... if I can improve on it, I will! I've been a loyal customer to the Dealer here, so we'll see... it's going to take a decent sales job on my end I guess.

I think the Canada crowd has determined they have the TSB by default...That "bar" is an overload spring...Making your total 4. The 3 leaf pack has two arched with that flat spring.

Does anyone that has had this done have before and after pics, like a side view? I'm curious to see how it affects the height of the rear end. Does is make a noticeable difference?

Bumps the ass end up about an inch. Can be settled with weight in the bed over a couple weeks if you like.

I think it's TSB 0305-08. But that's from memory so it might not be right. If you search, there are threads that have the pdf (that's where I got it). You can just download and print it.

T-SB 0305-08 is correct... only officially includes up to 2008 models. However, since VINs and spring part numbers for '09 (not sure about '10) match most dealers are willing to reach our to corporate to get them replaced as well.

I was at my local dealer today to get my '09 transmission lag fixed and talked to them about this. Brought the truck in with ~450lbs of sand bags in it and even though we couldn't duplicate the problem there the techs could see that I'd hit the bump stops on the frame several times and are calling Toyota Customer Care on Monday to see if they can get me covered under this TSB.

Is the trucks are made different in Canada ? The TSB indicates for USA market. That's why dealer in Vanacouver Canada refuse to do it for my 09 Taco.
