So I bought a used 2019 TRD sport V6 with a manual and 13k miles. Love the truck but was not impressed with throttle response so I decided to install a sprint booster v3 and it totally changed how the truck drives. I have noticed when it rains and I've got the wipers on with the booster installed the engine shuts off randomly. The truck runs fine when its not raining with the booster installed so i decided to remove the booster completely and drive the truck in rain with the wiper going and so far has run with out issues. I guess my question is has anyone else with the booster experienced any similar issues as this. I figured if the engine shut off in the rain without the booster installed then chances are its not the booster but so far no such luck. No other mods have been done to the truck, its bone stock. Hoping someone might have some ideas.

Holy Jesus i thought I was alone and thought it was from getting rear ended by some asshat while i was sitting at a red light....i have a 2019 OR manual and i noticed when it was raining and my wipers were on that i'd be cruising down the highway and my whole truck would shut off....i would have to shift to neutral while i'm rolling and turn the truck back on then shift back into whatever gear i was in....I know i didn't have the heat on in the car because i live in Florida and this was happening during warm months, and i think i was running the A/C....i just got a 2022 tacoma now and i'm going to install the spring booster on the new truck....if it happens again i'm throwing it out and just getting a tune

Man those throttle things are trash. For a little bit more money you can get a tune.

That's whacked! I had a V3 on my A/T since August but just pulled it a week or so ago. Never had a single issue with the truck or Booster. Random thought....you M/T guys have the switch set for the manual? What an odd problem.

While I don't have one, one of the reasons I don't is that the gas pedal connector was never meant to power anything. People have reported issues from CEL lights to being left with no pedal input at inopportune moments. Granted, lots of people of have them and haven't had issues, but having electrical glitches with that thing doesn't surprise me. Just my $0.02.

I finally have a tuner in my region and I want to see how that works out. I had an appt a couple weeks ago but had to break it so I'm still without. I had been using the booster since about 2 weeks after buying the truck when there was a bit of a flurry on them. I liked it and it did make a difference in how the transmission responded to throttle input in a positive way but one thing I did notice when I pulled it off is my fuel economy went up. I could never beat 15.5 or so and instantly bounced to 17'ish. I haven't done any lengthy highway runs but I suspect much better. The better kick in the ass the Booster gives you comes at a cost of economy which makes sense as it exponentially increases throttle input over what you're giving it at the pedal.

only on certain trucks. you can't tune all tacomas. that's why people buy the spring booster or shift sense.

For free you can just stop being afraid to use full throttle. I’ve never understood the concept of sprint boosters, but If people like them I’ll try not to judge!

no you can't. can't tune the new 2.7L engines. show me where to find a tune for a 2020-2022 tacoma with a 2.7L 2TR-FE engine.

No money, all went to truck...
I'm super curious. Tacoma + Sprint booster V3 + rain + wipers = engine stall?

    how?
