What it looks like on paper to a lot of people is way more important than how it actually changes the feel of driving the truck (which hardly any of them ever experience because they’ve pre-convinced themselves it doesn’t do anything without actually trying it out). They don’t get it that a lot of people think having to mash the gas pedal everywhere just to casually keep up with every other car on the road is really annoying and makes the driving experience of these trucks suck... or how a device to make it not necessary to floor it all the time actually has a lot of value.

Here’s a little analogy... I’d compare how the SB “adjusts” the gas pedal, to putting your most used dishes on the lower shelves. Sure, you can put all your plates an bowls on the top shelf, up with the fancy teacups and serving trays... and you can still reach em if you stretch. But it’s just inconvenient, unnatural, and a helluva lot more comfortable if you just put em where they’re easier to get to. The SB puts the engine’s power and response where it’s easier to get to and in line with where the pedal position should be, and that changes the feel.

Whatever it all looks like on paper, I can turn my SB off at any time. And every single time I do, I immediately feel more lag on top of the engine getting less fuel. With the SB off, if I simply just mash the gas pedal, there is a second there where the engine is like, “Oh wait, you want me to go?” before it goes. That disappears when I turn on the SB. I don’t know how or why, and I don’t really care. I just know it how it feels. And I like it.

    Nope,
    1. because I understand how these products "work"
    2. I have actually changed the TUNE of my truck to more linearly relate pedal input to throttle blade opening.

About the ONLY situation I could see one of these products being actually beneficial is careful off roading where fine throttle inputs are necessary, put it in eco mode to dull the initial pedal inputs and make light throttle inputs easier.

I don't care what black magic it is or technically how it works (Ok I do understand what it does), I like it and changes the driving experience. Each to their own. After warranty is up I will probably get a "real" tune, until then Im happy.

Big surprise huh? The correlation between people saying the SB is worthless but never having actually tried it for themselves is near 100%. I have experienced both a tune and the SB on my truck. I like the SB better for the several reasons which I explained in my OP. It’s fine if people don’t agree with me. But you know what one of the most useless things in the world is?.. An opinion on something without any experience with it.

Ok, apropos of nothing here; I've given my like for. I didn't tell the Mrs. I ordered one or even told her I installed it. She grabbed the truck keys and ran off this morning for some errands. First thing said when she got back was "What did you do to the truck now? drives much better!"

    LOL

    Just my personal experience. YMMWMV

Do you need to jump off a cliff to know its a bad idea?

The thing that peeves me with this product is ALL OF THE MISINFORMATION spread about it and what it actually accomplishes on our trucks. It does not and CAN NOT increase throttle response, all it does is simulate you pushing the pedal more or less than you actually are.

Semantics, you offer a distinction without a difference. I like mine, glad I bought it and would do it again. It changes the way the truck drives. Whether it "simulates" pushing the petal or whether increases throttle response, I care not a whit. It changes the drive of the truck for the better and that is all I ask of it.

Driving with one installed or thinking about driving with one installed - I, too, wonder who is right. Well...not really.

I've had both now, the SB on my Tacoma was a lifesaver. But it won't replace the tune i had on my previous Titan. I don't plan on going 400+ HP like the Titan was , either (which i really doubt the Taco could do without major modification).
So, my opinion is that it's just going to be a preference if you just want to change the pedal response time and that's it. It's not changing anything else. But i'm not going to argue about going to Apple when i prefer my Android.

What if the quicker response is because of the time saved to only have to push the pedal 20% instead of 60% to get the same amount of fuel to the motor to get up and go? Maybe that half a second in time saved doesn’t show up in your electrical diagrams, but it shows up in the get your ass moving quotient.

And that's all find and dandy, if you like it cool, but the quotes stating the stock system is laggy and putting this in somehow magically makes the throttle body move quicker is in fact 100% not true. Product videos attached to this thread are pure fallacy and its how this company continues to sell these products.

Again, nobody here seems to care how the lag is reduced, all that matters is that we feel the difference. No amount of your explaining or wiring diagrams are going to negate what those of us who have this product feel when we use it.

The company continues to sell the product because people like myself and others on here have bought it and like it because it works and then they tell others.

How true. But aren't charts fun to think of as you slowly depress the gas petal and enjoy the drive?

Sport ("green") 9 is where I settled as well. Sprint Booster is the best mod I have done. So easy to experiment, then set it to taste.

I like mine at “Green 7” as it gives just enough feel! This may be the best feature as we all have different tastes.
