Are you sure it's actually coming from the brake pedal and not the headrest?

    Same here.

Yes it is definitely coming from under the dash when the brake pedal is depressed!

Mine does this at cold start! There is also a small pop from the back of the vehicle maybe when depressed all the way! I step on the break few times and it goes away. Than put in gear and drive off

Mine just started this too. Some cars have a piece of rubber sleeve around the spring to deaden the noise. I'm thinking about trying that.

OK, just got home from the shop to install my sumo springs. I peeked around by the pedal assembly, and found the spring shift around due to changing angles when you push the pedal. There appeared to be a small amount of white lithium grease on the hook of the spring, but not much, and it seemed a little hardened up. I lubed it up with some synthetic caliper slide grease, and the noise went away. Super easy fix, for now at least.

My buddy's '16 OR does this. First time I drove it, I told him that he might need to check his brake fluid, or see if they needed to be bled for air. He took it to the dealer and they said everything was good. I bought an '18 and it doesn't have the noise/feel that his does.

I had it, I put a little grease on the ends of the spring and it solved it.

It's the brake pedal spring that I'm talking about. I've had my '18 since Feb and it just started a few weeks ago. I'm hoping Toyota will fix it/grease it/replace my radio so I don't hear it anymore LOL

    Sproing or boing resolved!
Oh dummy me! I have a 2017 Taco, drove my wife nuts every time I used the brake, I would "Sproing" when I let pedal up.

It took me nearly 3 years after looking at the setup to think of where I had seen the issue repaired. I had recently flipped over two recliner chairs, there was the answer...in the spring there was a round piece of foam stuffed into the barell of the spring!

Sure enough, found a round piece and pushed it thru the spring..."Sproing" no more! Now moving on to fix the pedal clunk!

Hi guys, new guy here. I’m reviving this thread as my new 2019 has it. Dealer said that it’s normal and they gave me a 2019 Rav while they were looking at it and that vehicle had it to.
I just got done contorting myself up under the dash to put some grease on the contact points. There does appear to be something inside the spring itself but it was halfway up the spring body and I didn’t want to mess with it, almost looked like a piece of plastic? It’d be nice to find a permanent solution to this annoying noise, I can also “feel” the noise when the pedal is first depressed.

My 2006 has the same symptoms. I'll see if grease, foam... Whatever works.
    Thanks
