So, I bought my Tacoma with a dented fender and after replacing the fender and then not being able to open the door came to realize what caused the damage to begin with. My question is... Do I pull the door off and try and fix it right OR could I just grind off some metal on the front edge of the door until it will close properly?

I should make it clear that the door closes fine and only doesn't clear the fender by literally a millimeter. How hard is it to pull the door off, realign the door and or hinges and stick it back on?

The tacoma lover in me says take the door off and fix it correctly. The lazy size of me wants to know if a light deadblow hammer or sheet metal hammer would be able to make enough of an adjustment to get it to clear.
As far as removing the door, never tried but should be pulling the door panel to access and remove the electrical connectors and then the bolts for the door itself.

    OME and worth every penny.
Be nice if you knew a body man to ask, I don't know that the door can move back. Has to line up in back also.

    edit: maybe shim a hinge?

Without pictures we are just guessing .

It comes down to what you can live with .

If things need to be perfect by all means take it to a body shop spend $1000.00 to get it adjusted or maybe the door post replaced depending just what is really wrong.

Myself when the deer ran into the door I put a pry bar between the door and fender moved things enough to open the door and called it good.

I am still wanting one day to have a vehicle mostly all the same color
