I have heard it does nothing to wheel bearing and have heard it destroys them. Do you have any personal experience with spacers?

Your adding off center load to a bearing design that wasn't designed for off center load, you don't need experience to know that's a bad idea.

i cant imagine 1.25" will add enough leverage to harm the wheel bearings. i had spacers on a suzuki sx4 so the geolanders wouldnt rub at full lock and no signs of bearing issues after 80k miles

B.S. I've ran them for 15 years in many vehicles. No different than running a backspace wheel.

Yes/no. You are correct in what you say.

A wheel spacer is no different than a wheel with less backspacing. They both push the wheel away from the vehicle. But, you are running a non factory backspacing and the bearings are typically designed and tested at certain parameters. So yes, it could wear the bearing prematurely vs a stock backspacing but at 1.25" you'll most likely never have concern.

It's more common to wear out bearings when you use huge spacers or wheels with less backspace when you're running heavy, large tires. Very common on full size trucks where guys are putting load E 35" tires with 2" or greater spacers or wheels with little back spacing between the weight of the larger tire, rotational forces and the weight of the truck itself it's bad news.

With all that, I ran 1.25" Spidertrax on my Tacoma and now on my 4Runner and have no issues, no ragrats. Cheaper than new wheels! Biggest thing people don't do and have issues is they don't retorque the spacers per manufacturer specs. That's when big problems occur.

So I may need to buy an $18 part in 5-10 years? LOL. I've got much bigger problems to worry about.

Great feedback. I torqued the spacers on at 85lbs and will do again in 50 miles like they recommend. Also torquing the lugs on the rims at the specified LB. Love the look!

So your all agreeing with me, it shortens bearing life, but it's just not enough for you to care about. Fair enough, hose the room down with testosterone all you want, you aren't really disputing what I said.

    Awesome observations by MO.

Just don't forget, retorque slightly lower than 85 or you will break any loctite you put on and need to redo everything...

I wanted to keep my stock wheels on my 12 sport but couldn't get that stance I wanted. So I just found some cheaper wheels and doing a full tire and new wheel package at the end of this year.
