2017 Tacoma Pro, replacing the whole stereo now. originally i was keeping the Entune head, adding some K2P's and Infiniti 6x9's and a 13TW5, but honestly the soundstage was a mess even with the 6x9's in the front doors going through a LPF to kill the tweeters. so I'm doing it over.

today a AVIC8200 is going in with the idata maestro. the 6x9's are coming out, and there will be no rears for now until i get the soundstage tight. there will only be a K2P component kit up front with a single sub out back.

the K2P's will be on the JL HD600/4 bridged for 300w per channel all up front. there will be a 500/1 on the single 13TW5 (2 ohm).

    and Dynamat of course.

if anyone has any input on how I'll be with only K2P's and the 13TW5 then let me hear it. I'd like to have a couple 8" drivers in the rears but that's not happening without cutting metal, so no. without some 6.5's for rear fill will i have any weirdness frequency wise?

the sub's not here yet so I'll have plenty of time to play with the eq and soundstage before it's installed, and that's good.

You could put some of these in the rear doors...

Also for your front stage... if you are using the passive crossovers from your component set along with an active crossover then they are canceling each other out. For a front stage you want an active crossover and a 4 channel amp just for the front doors.

I have a precision power DSP and it seems to be a pretty good and affordable unit.

thanks for the reply, but are you missing a link or pic from the first line of your response?

I'm going very simple now to get a foundation and straighten the details. that's why i pulled the 6x9's and decided to move all the K2P bits up front, and I'm bridging the 600/4 to maximize what I have so i can tune it and find any issues. i could consider active at some point but not now... i have too much $$$ going into the sub setup still. so at this point I'm just making sure my hardware covers the bases for an evolving SQ install.

Haha. Sorry here is the link..

Also to set up a front stage you have to have a active processor. It will delay the sound out of the left speaker so that the right and left speaker sound hit your ears at the same time, Also it will allow you to individually tune each speaker to specific sound range, timing, power, and slope to get the best sound. And there is usually a nice EQ built in for fine tuning.

i know, and for now I'll make use of the AVIC8200's control for time aligning and per channel eq. i had it in my last Eclipse HU and it was kinda horrible. hoping this will be usable. it's not full SQ but will help me get in the zone. i just can't justify full active yet. what processor do you like?

Well I have only used the precision power 88r but I like it a lot. Lots of features for its price point and it has a external remote with 10 pre sets!

I actually just took a set of the K2P Focals out of my doors and put them back in the box. Great speakers. I too am changing things up.

I think you'll be fine with the Focals up front and nothing but a sub in the rear. That's how most SQ setups are run. It's very VERY rare to see anyone with a serious system with anything in the rear.

Just unboxed it. Much to come.
I am working on this also. You should look into the JL TWK88. You can play with the software now on JL's website. If you are looking for true audio a real DSP is where you are headed. Im right behind you. Have a Set of JL ZR components, 13tw5. 300/4 and 500/1 JL. Still need lots of parts and odd ends to make it work. The Build is going to be a big project. Hit me up with your finds. Not to many ACTIVE setups on here. But There are a few around.

so I've got it 90% there for my recent roadtrip, and took the time to enjoy it and tune the system and find out what it needs.

    - K2P's up front with the woofers in the front doors.
    - JL 600/4 bridged for 300w per ch
    - no rears
    - 13TW5V2-2ohm in a Mr Marv sealed box
    - JL 500/1
    - Alumapro 5F capacitor
    - AVIC 8200 & idata Maestro
    - Dynamat in all doors and rear but not in the floor or roof.

it sounds good for a natural passive setup. i don't like time alignment on these systems so a natural sound is what i prefer until i can go nuts.

it sounds solid, but i badly need Dynamat on the floor. that will take time. until then I've had to use the HPF on the 500/1 set to 28Hz@24dB/oct to keep from resonating. i actually like it cus it's so clean, but honestly I'm missing some actual bass notes it filters so much. my last install had 2 10W7's, so i see how much I'm missing, but the clean punch from this sub is amazing and I love it.

i also need to set the HPF on the 600/4, which is distorting the woofers here and there. right now I'm using the HPF on the 8200 set to 80Hz@6dB/oct and that's about right at the limit.

anyway I'll probably try and commit to one floor corner per weekend and I'll get the Dynamat done and can turn it up a bit more.
